Already understand how frame data pretty much works, but this is an awesome breakdown for a new player. Found it so helpful and easy to understand. A must watch for anyone, like me, looking at getting into fighting games at a somewhat competent level.

This video's summary screen is erroneous and could be causing some confusion if people are trying to use it as a quick reference. It's trying to tell us that the Combo Formula is exactly the same as the Punish Formula, which is obviously not correct. You may want to put an annotation over the Combo Formula on that screen to show the correct formula. This is otherwise a fantastic short and sweet tutorial for understanding frame data.

Good vid! I'd like to some of Ryu meaty setups on quick and back rise wakeup. I like how roundhouse can combo into solo plexus if meaty timed right.

I tried the combo formula with two moves from necalli, hp xx mk.stomp which is a combo in the input window. But according to FAT this would mean (1) - (19) which is obviously well below 0. Did I do something wrong?
@Shhadow7817 жыл бұрын
The "On Hit" value for a move shows how many frames the opponent is still in hit-stun *after your move's recovery frames have finished*, but since you are cancelling HP into the stomp, those 19 recovery frames on HP never actually happen, and the stomp's start-up frames instead begin somewhere during HP's active frames, therefore allowing the combo. In short, the Combo Formula doesn't account for cancelling and is designed for use on finding which moves link into others. Moves that can be cancelled into other moves will almost always combo on hit (by design of being cancellable). I hope this explanation was clear.

Ok thank you for the explanation. That makes sense.

I just started looking into frame data as im struggling getting to gold . Im trying to understand all this numbers . Myvquestiin is to make things simpler. Instead of adding and looking if the result is positive or negative. Lauras example is -11 on block .so anything that ryu has that is 11f or less will punish ?

If you're in range then yes. I honestly did a poor job with this video... gotta redo it at some point.

@@mdz_jimmy no man . It was a good one . It helped me understand more . Cause I've been watching tutorials on frame data and I understand but I like to do the math to actually see it . So you kinda answer that question. I still get confused lol. I'm a ryu player and I watch your videos to learn .now I'm playing birdie . I got tired of people spamming moves that I can't punish .so I started looking in to frame data .lol

i think a good follow up video would be a video on frametraps or one on oki.
