I'd like to mention on the arm triangle portion. The guy in the black gi didn't show any movement with his elbow, he should have been actively pushing in addition to turning as well as trying to move elbow in front of face. It works for me at the very least.

Great video guys! Like your bit about kesa gatame. Trying to play it some as a new blue belt (so I'm one of the "has no idea" guys lol!) But I'm seeing it, as a piece to add and being a smaller guy it behooves me to put lots of pressure to smaller areas. Trouble is it has to be just the right area otherwise like you show here you can be swept, get back taken, triangled, etc. So as a new kesa player this is all happening to me frequently. If I were to ask you a question, what are some transitions into and out of it? Into from regular side control and most importantly out of it and back to a safe position when the opponent is bailing?

Thank you! Yeah, this is a really good technique. I’ll screenshot your question & try to cover some entries in the upcoming episode. The key for me is: 1) to have the choking arm’s forearm flush with the floor and 2) lean your body away from opponent.

@@Spiritof_76thank you, I appreciate it! Yeah, we’ve done that with Firas but they tend to move and/or friction of the movement interferes. I’m working to outfit the room with mics but it will take some time.
