I'm working on a similar project (with electric guitar strings and pickups) and I'm wondering if I have to use a truss rod for the neck. Seems that you didn't use one and I'm not quite sure I'd be be able to do it well with my tools. What's your opinion on that?

I have electric ukuleles that I built 10+ years ago with necks that remain straight as an arrow. The combination of short necks and less strings make for less stress on the neck.

Looks awesome, sounds nice! My first fretboard attempt was no good, the frets were off slightly and the intention had to be readjusted. It's a bummer too because it was Brazilian Rosewood! :( but everything is working wonderfully now!

Acacia is nice looking wood. The porous grain of it reminds me of mahogany and it "should" sound similar. With mahogany getting scarce I believe we'll start to see guitars made with acacia.

decades ago I had an electric ukulele; except that instead of a pickup it had a small flashlight duct-taped just left of the leftmost string, the beam shining across all 4 strings into a photocell duct-taped just right of the rightmost string, it output going into a makeshift amplifier. It sounded very distorted.

Im playing giutar for now 2-3 months and startet 2 weeks ago to play ukulele too. im thinking about building one of these too and had some questions. 1. whats the pick up you use in that build and what pick up can i use? 2. can i put in a switch to distore the output and how would i do that?

From what I can see, those are just normal nylon uke strings. Is that a special ukulele pickup that works microphonically rather than magnetically?
