Funny story (not for me!): I was playing online in MK8D today, racing THIS EXACT SAME COURSE (Toad Harbor). I was in first place for 2 and 3 quarters of the race, and within that span, I got hit by: Not 1, Not 2, but THREE BLUE SHELLS!! And on the 3rd one, I lost my 1st place lead!!! 1) I don't believe that 3-star ranking will count because it's not on player 1's profile. 2) Matt had Steering Assist on, just a heads up. Unless that was deliberate. 3) You don't wanna get stuck on the side of the waterfall on Shy Guy Falls going upstream. Happened to me once I was left behind half-a-lap with no chance of recovery. Hated it. 4) Bob-omb Blast is my least favorite mode. Those Bob-omb explosions have deceptively short-lived hitboxes.

Matt, a lot of the reason your kart's were having trouble going fast was because you had auto steering on, it kind of messes with the speed when it triggers, plus it means you cannot get the ultra mini boost, aka purple sparks

No actually, you tip the control stick in the direction opposite the direction it automatically places it (As in for shells you pull back on the control stick and press the item button to throw it back and for bananas you push forward on the control stick and press the item button to throw the banana, though i'm gonna assuming this doesn't work on Blue Shells because they're Leader Hunters, as in they hunt down first place no matter what)
