SGC Slab Reveal 10 Sports Cards. Damaged card, Grades, Customer service and more..

We have a lot to unpack here and this is my SECOND STRAIGHT order with SGC that has had a card damaged!

PSA is damaging cards every day, SGC damages cards as well, but you nailed the difference, you have to CHASE PSA down to make them pay. I’ve had to for multiple thousands of dollars in damage. Sad reality that ANY AND ALL cards are at risk when grading ANYWHERE

I sent my barry sanders rookie sgc 10 almost dead center card to psa to cross over when it came back the case looked like it was cracked and resealed the card has dimples all over it know .

PSA is just as terrible so let’s not act like it’s only a SGC thing. Literally in the last week PSA reached out to me to let me know an Obsidian Klay Thompson /16 that they graded a PSA 10 got damaged during encapsulation and was now a 5. You know what they gave me? Declared value & to take the fee from the order, no free grading credits or anything like that.

Wowww SGC sounds like they need to do something else to make that right. I would want a replacement card in a 10 of equal value. Nothing less or the cash equivalent.

I feel you on SGC right now. I do vintage baseball, and in November they sent me back a Mantle card slabbed up with a pube on his chin. No, literally, you couldn’t make that up. He looked like Peter Griffin. Long story, they made it right, but it took way more time than I meant to spend and was super frustrating. Not consecutively, but also not the first quality issue I have had with them since I’ve been submitting for the last three or four years. I feel like SGC is better than PSA in so many ways, but they are just having some growing pains like this still. It’s unfortunate.

I’ve had sgc damage cards before but so has psa neither usually say anything and I just wear it but now I just send sgc vintage beaters I can’t find a use for them on modern.

To me the fact they admit to damaging the card and let you know and don’t just slab it and send it back is amazing. I have sent the majority of my cards to PSA and I swear they have damaged a few cards in the past, but how do I prove it? I thought about making a video of me putting the cards in card savers and packing them. My favorite team is LV Raiders.

Nice return, and I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us viewers. On the Herbert, that’s interesting that they told you that was graded a 10 prior to encapsulation; unless they’ve recently changed their centering requirements (specifically on the back of the card), that card looks like 75/25 at best on the back. Nonetheless, cool card, and I hope you have better luck, but I just wanted to mention that. Have they loosened up the centering guidelines on the back of cards? Thank you.

I use SGC because they are better than PSA, cost less to submit, no subscription, better customer service and are far more transparent. PSA got a following because of easy 10s and a registry. After that PSA didn’t have to do anything else. “Collectors” invested heavy and now won’t go anywhere else because to do so would devalue what their PSA slabs. They can’t crossover their PSA stuff because god knows what they will get if the card is actually graded correctly. PSA was put on a pedestal by this community even though the community knew there was issues with PSA.

For me it was the convenience, the group I use is right by SGC and they drop off in person and the cards come back very fast

Don't use SGC anymore. I will never use them again. They sent back ungraded cards unsleeved and ended up scratching and damaging a few expensive cards. Can't believe they didn't return them in the original sleeves and toploaders. The slabs have newtons rings inside and debris also gets inside the holder. The slabs were also scratched and you can't see the card clearly inside. Their graders and lazy and they just rush low priority orders. They use pop control for the elite players. They sent cards back ungraded which they've graded in the past and are on the pop report. None of the grading companies are great, but i would say the BGS are the best. They don't damage your cards unlike PSA and SGC. Had 7/8 good orders received back from them.

seen a reveal recently sgc slabs cracked n resubbed to csg it was interesting that the only the highend jordans got bumps from csg, everything else was the same except the jordans, pop control 🤔 or just a coincidence

@@mickey-eq5vw Definitely pop control. I sent 7 cards of a popular player and knew one card wasn't perfect. It seems as though two different graders did them as they've labelled them differently. One grader gave me 3 8.5's and a 10. The other gave me 3 9's. There was not difference between the 8.5's and 9's in comparison with the 1 10. The worst card got an 8.5 but there's no way the other two 8.5's were in the same condition. Seems like lazy grading. One gives them all 8.5's without checking and the other all 9's. Will send them elsewhere for regrading.

@@ElenaMarcelino9 i never thought of sgc as the kind of company that would do that n its not really sgc's fault, i think what happens is they're getting more subs then they ever have and the employees who have collections n cards graded with sgc they hit the MJ's n probably TB's a little harder, Im positive it happens at psa, Sgc the jury is still out but reveals lately seem like high end jordans are getting hit harder then cards from that same era n product

SGC are the worst slabs on the market. Ugly label, cloudy slab compared to CSG. They paid a lot of these influencers to pump their name to the masses during the fomo bubble.
