Our recipe is for high fire although it has worked for me at cone 5.

I like the Mishima technique and I've done this but after scraping the slip off if you wanted to glaze it with a colored glaze, how would you do that? I tried putting on wax and then glazing but I always end up with a white spot from my clay body where I didn't get it covered good. Or would you put wax on and scrape that off and then apply the glaze? I would also love to have your slip recipe. Do you use Mason Stains in your colored slip recipe? Thanks for answering my questions.

I'm sorry that it's taken so long to get back to you. I have been on vacation. I would try using latex (not wax). You might also try a translucent glaze like a Celadon and skip the waxing altogether. Our slips are colored with mason stains. The base is equal parts EPK, Ball Clay, Silica & Nephsy mixed by volume.

Thanks for answering me back. Do you have an exact recipe you can share for the colored slips? I bought some Mason Stains but I have no clue how to really mix it. I had thought you could just mix it in with your slip. Would that not work? Thank you for your help :)

Yes. Simply mix the mason stains in. Start with a small amount and add and test until you get your desired results. I am out of town, but when I return I'll provide examples with a couple of the stains we use.
