Sgt. Slaughter had balls of steel for this gimmick and heel run. Especially when the US was actually at war with Iraq and Saddam Hussein. US was filled with tons of anti-Iraq sentiment and for good reason. Also, this is back when most of the fanbase didn't know about kayfabe and couldn't tell that it was just a character and Sarge was just acting a character. I actually met Sarge in real life. He's one of the nicest people out there. Truly fan friendly and lights up when he sees kids at appearances and signings

This has to be without a doubt the most STUNNING heel turn in wrestling history. Sgt. Slaughter's popularity was actually bigger than Hulk Hogan's for a while and his popularity (as with most great wrestlers) hit a plateau and began to fizzle out. Many would argue that Hulk Hogan's heel turn was the biggest, but Sgt. Slaughter's turn was actually quite dangerous. Him, Iron Sheik and the others began getting death threats, bomb threats, their cars had been broken into, their gas tanks had been flooded with god only knows what, and fans began to attack them, but a heel turn like this could have permanently damaged his career. It was just so unbelievable. We're talking about taking a REAL ex marine drill instructor who is practically the embodiment of fucking terrorist scum in the ass siding with another wrestler who claimed he hated America (which I personally love the Iron Sheik and he loves America more than most), but also claiming he gets personal gifts from Saddam Hussein. The WWF went WAY too far with that shit, lol!

One thing that slightly annoys me. In Legends Of WrestleMainia. Sgt. Slaughter is in his HEEL (Triangle Of Terror) Attire, yet, he comes out to his FACE theme (Hard Corps), even though he should be coming out to the TOT theme. Another, The Iron Sheik comes out to his music, which is fine, but again, he's wearing his TOT attire, technically not even making him The Iron Sheik, instead, making him Col. Mustafa. And they couldn't even be bothered to put Mustsfa's Dessert Soldier theme in there? Typical THQ and WWE laziness

texmusik89 That is one of the most rare themes I have ever seen out there. Nobody has Mustafa's theme.
@shermanvermin767 жыл бұрын
No, when they were the three man tag team 'the Triangle of Terror', the only theme they ever used (as heard in their only PPV appearance as the three man tag team - SummerSlam 1991) was the same repeated drum roll theme, which Sergeant Slaughter went under as a singles wrestler (from late 1990 to WrestleMania VII). The theme texmusik89's thinking of was used post-SummerSlam 1991, when, unfortunately for me, the Triangle of Terror broke up (the only PPV this theme was heard was Survivor Series 1991). I didn't like when Sergeant Slaughter dropped the Iraqi sympathiser gimmick - he unquestionably should always have *retained* it (especially as, in said Survivor Series, Hulk Hogan lost his title, which he won from 8 months prior, at WrestleMania VII, which he still had at SummerSlam 1991 - merely 3 months before the same year's Survivor Series - to the Undertaker, where I can imagine, had the Triangle of Terror still been going by this point, what all three members would have been like, when they heard that Hulk Hogan was no longer the WWF champion!) Hulk Hogan might have defeated Sergeant Slaughter (managed by General Adnan), for the WWF title, at WrestleMania VII (which Sergeant Slaughter won at Royal Rumble 1991, from the late Ultimate Warrior) [where, at said Royal Rumble, he was managed by General Adnan], and (having the late Ultimate Warrior as his tag team partner) defeated the Triangle of Terror (all three members - now including Colonel Mustafa) at SummerSlam 1991, but, fortunately, he did lose his title to the Undertaker, at Survivor Series 1991. Even if he, only 6 days later, won the title *back* from the Undertaker, at 'This Tuesday in Texas', owing to how the late Jack Tunney was unable to prevent a repeat of the interference from Ric Flair (exactly what caused Hulk Hogan to lose his title to the Undertaker back at Survivor Series), Hulk Hogan regaining the title was only brief, as Jack Tunney had to strip him of it, and put it up for grabs at the 1992 Royal Rumble, where whoever won it would become the undisputed WWF champion (it's now good Ric Flair won it, and finally became the real WWF champion).
