I grew up fishing all the areas you’re fishing. The biggest trout I ever hooked up on was behind our house on laguna de Ora. I had Just bought a new pole from Smittys bait camp, loaded new 15lb line on my abu Garcia reel, tied on a strawberry and white Kelly wiggler and made my cast. First cast in, I felt a small strike and I backed off, waited a sec and started to reel in again, felt a huge bite, started screaming for my dad who was upstairs in the house. He ran out on the patio, shouted “don’t horse him, don’t horse him” when this trout shot up out of the water and threw my lure. Was the biggest I’d ever seen to this day. I was maybe 18 at the time. I’m 49 now and still haven’t come across a speck that large again.

Youre in my backyard. Galveston here. As much as I love it, you should try going further south to baffin, or laguna madre. The middle and southern coast is spectacular. Any cast can get you a 30 inch trout. I love Galveston, freeport, and Matagorda, but further south is better.

Hey Nate, are you still doing guided kayak fishing trips? My wife and I pulled the trigger on some Hobie fishing kayaks solely based on your videos and it has been the most fun we've ever had on the water. We've been doing some fishing here on the Georgia coast, but have been thinking about putting in around mobile and Pensacola

Find reefs off of protected shorelines… these reefs r in a smaller bay system that can get really good this time of year with those trout transitioning to spawn

I feel your pain on the lost rod. Two summers ago I had six rods in a rod bag in the bottom of the bay boat. When I got to my destination (Fort Morgan) they were gone. These rods have been transported thousands of miles the same way. I still have no clue where they went missing. Was it a storm or a five finger discount when I went in a gas station? Guess I'll never know.
