I unfortunately fell for the screwdriver trick. Luckily I stopped before I even tried it. It just seemed so wrong. Went back to your page to double checked &, confirmed. How ever Adam drake suggested to put a zip tie in the exhaust port and then to push up on the piston. I did this and it seemed to damage my piston head. After this I immediately stopped and made my own tool with my 3D printer. Man what a roller coaster. Have you ever tried the zip tie method? And would you recommend it? Thanks Bug! 🤘🏼😎
@thebug40469 ай бұрын
Hey man glad you didn't go with the screwdriver technique that's very damaging and zip ties won't do any damage unless they have metal in them and you can push-up on the bottom of the sleeve from the back side of the crank case once you apply some heat to the cylinder that usually works 99% of the time it works every time. 👌🏻💯🍻
@7badtothebone9 ай бұрын
@@thebug4046 thank you very much for your feedback! I couldn’t tell if there is sufficient damage done to my piston while doing the zip tie method, when I did this it was late at night and I didn’t have my glasses on. I was also extremely paranoid I was doing something wrong. It may have been grease or grime that looked like chipped metal. I’m currently trying to rebuild three trx engines, .15, 2.5 & 3.3. The .15 was the worst, it was almost glued together with all the grime. The torch method you suggested worked like a charm. I just needed to heat up that old nitro fuel and allow it to coagulate so it would come free. I’m going to try to do a pinch test on them next. I’m rewatching your videos on sleeves/ pistons & such to gather some info on pinch testing. And hey man, sorry I still haven’t sent in pictures of my messed up 3.3 I bought from that guy who ripped me off. I kind of got lost on where to send them to. I’ll send you those pictures and along with some pictures of the engines I’m working on. I also recently adopted a kyosho MP3 with the OS .21 that came stock with it, I am going to do a full restoration on that buggy, once I build up enough knowledge on conditioning and tuning nitro (glow) engines ;).
