A beautiful display, but not compatible with long term care of Dendrobium. The clay soil will prevent air circulation around the roots. Either grow bareroot on the lava stone or with a bit of sphagnum moss. In winter they go dormant, which means cool, dry for a day or two between watering, no fertilizer. In summer you will have difficulty watering. The clay/moss mix will stay wet too long and prevent air circulation.
