Standard bullet weight in .38Special/.357Magnum is 158grains. The 132/130gr weight is Military weight. Don't ask me why. I've been asking for 60yrs without an answer. A Firearms "instructor" that does NOT know how to shoulder a shotgun, and she kept her finger on the trigger the whole time. So many things wrong that I'm tired of pointing them out.

I was just reminded that we have a local shooting range where Japanese tourists used to come in . We were shooting larger caliber pistols and Military surplus rifles. A couple of gentlemen quietly came over to watch us. My Buddy was shooting a Garand . One of the tour guides asked for one of the tourists what type of rifle he was shooting. We explained that it was a rifle that was used during WW2. One of the tourist was shocked that we could own a rifle that could have shot at his father. So we let him shoot it. He was speechless. He couldn’t get over how heavy it was and the recoil was so strong. It was a good day.

His Father shot at my Grandfather first.... Most people don't understand weapons used in war can be from muzzle loading flint locks to modern bolt action, pump, semi-auto and select fire to full automatic. Most liberal western countries issue semi-auto AR-15 type rifles then call them automatic rifles yet they will kill. During the 2003 invasion of Iraq many older guard and reserve units had world war II weapons and equipment I saw 3 seperate 1903A4 sniper rifles rebarreled with unused stock military barrels and they were using the old Unertl scopes out to 1200 meters with modern factory ammunition.I saw several M16A1 and CAR 15 variants, one commander had a .Carbine plus I saw .45 Grease guns, Old Browning machine guns 30-06 and .50 Bmg, Lots of rebarreled WWII, korean and Vietnam era 105 mm Artillery pieces, Jeeps, trucks etc. The government had to get them better stuff after that. Kinda sad how some of these units from small towns had to make do with old stuff. Saddam had a Sherman Tank...the Army took it. For the Gulf War our reserve unit had to give up all their equipment and weapons to include individual soldiers to get uits going fully equipped then got called up two weeks later. I got a 1985 issued ballistic vest for 2003 and everyone was bitching about it till I got hit with a coke can size piece of shrapnel in the chest. Saved my life but it hurt and my other wounds got me evaced. Had I not had that old vest I would be dead but it still hurts 21 years later. Some fired a 38 Special at one soldier the took 3 hits and fired back at the car killing everyone...that and flipping over several times then being thrown from the car. Since a whole platoon opened fired everyone was hit even after being thrown from the car. Worse we got orders to give first aid to Iraqis wounded we had band aids and put them on Iraqis after they shot our medic. I had Smurf bandaids.

That's because it is too heavy and too powerful. It was tooled for 276 Pedersen but galaxy brain Douglas MacArthur overruled him, and John Garand was thanked by being fired. No matter the era, US Ordnance Corps always betrays the troops, whether at Battle of San Juan Hill, or in Vietnam where M16 cleaning kits were not issued for two years, or Iraq where the talc like dust caused widespread failure. US issued a genuine assault rifle to its army a whopping 18 years after Russia.

You'll often find them participating in airsoft matches and chatting in online military and history forums.

@@teppeki-999 You are both incorrect. I have taught many new people to shoot. The wire prevents them from turning suddenly with the pistol in their hand creating an unsafe condition. Without the wire the instructor has to stay close to the student ready to grab them if they turn away from the firing line without putting the gun down. It takes time a diligence to make it a habit to never point a gun in an unsafe direction. I have only seen the wire in places that specialize in allowing foreigners to try guns as an experience. Most Americans that train with guns approach it seriously as sort of a bujutsu, so the wire would not be used.

Glad she started shooting with a .22-LR caliber. Certainly not a .50-S&W magnum. With a diameter of 12.7mm. the .454-Casul is high on the recoil. She did shoot the M-1911 pistol chambered in .45-acp. Did everyone see the recoil affects. The last revolver she experienced the .357-magnum. Notice her hands were in pain. A .38-special caliber is a great training round. To get accustomed to the recoil. To eliminate all recoil pain from a shotgun, I recommend the Knoxx SpecOpps recoil stock. There are two springs to absorb recoil. One in the butt stock the other is in the pistol grip. Reduces the recoil of a 3¼-inch magnum shotgun shell to the recoil affects of a .22-LR.

Simple in design and can be easily bypassed however when you're first starting it's a very good system and training tool, not allowing the firearm to be put into a position that would be deemed unsafe. Front and center, can't be pulled away, and always downrange.

The instructor was decent, but he forgot to tell you to bend your elbows slightly to help cope with recoil. You were snapping your wrists with the more powerful pistols and revolvers. No wonder you were anticipating recoil later on. In any case, it looks like you had fun and learned a little, so it was time well spent.

I think at 8:05 that he is demonstrating with a WW2 Japanese Nambu pistol. 🔫 Facinating how he integrated that gun in the presentation.

They tied the gun, how can you shoot like that? Of course, our Yusuf Dikeç is a phenomenon, I think you should continue with the samurai sword instead of the gun, there are many people in the US army who use these guns without tying them. 🤣

I find it odd that they do not use double-action mode on their revolvers. It's convenient to cock the hammer against the counter, but not how you would realistically use a revolver.
