@anormaluser Do you mean the Jodan letting go of the right hand and blocking only with left? Probably to remove the target (right kote) so that the opponent can't hit it. Right hand goes to the right do area so that it covers the do; as well as make it difficult to hit the right kote. (while blocking men with the shinai. so all 3 targets blocked)

hello, I'm new into Kendo. Can anybody explain me why do they let go the shinai with one hand sometimes? I've never seen it except for doing tsuki. Whats the purpose here? for example: 1:01 to 1:04 Thanks in advance
