Continuing a legendary lineage, I consider she to be the greatest jazz pianist of all time.

Yes I find that people overlook what sets Hiromi apart from a lot of legendary musicians. Most of the time the greats had the technique and did compose as well, but never have I heard a well rounded musician as Hiromi. Her compositions match the level of her playing and that’s something you only see in a handful of musicians that have ever existed. She may not be the greatest composer or greatest technical player, but the well rounded-ness of her as a musician I think is unmatched.
....this lady has a miracle gift....I am amazed at every vid...(I sat 8 ft away from Horowitz as he played, at one recital)..... her musical thought process is so fast and complete...she projects ahead to what sound she seeks...muted sound in bass (hand with just the right pressure directly on strings)...she fully understands the instrument itself....she has a little shout at just the right time to accent her feeling, so she incorporates voice ....and she is aware of her audience...looks out to them and smiles....what an artist.....a bundle of energy at the ivories....we are so lucky she is out there.....all totally spontaneous...( of course, all based on foundation of study and practice to get her technique)......what a gift....

She played the same song twice because she felt that she can do it better And,she improvised that song"My Way"just by listening to the man humming it How awesome she is...
When she was a high school student, she met accidentally Chick Corea, coming to Japan for his concert next day. Since the place they met at was Yamaha studio, Chick asked to Hiromi “play the piano” and she did as he said. After she played, Chick simply said “would you like to join my concert tomorrow?” Next day, Hiromi performed with Chick on his concert:)
One of my greatest pleasures in life is watching and listening to Hiromi play

Some phenoms are incredibly, technically clean, powerful, et cetera, but they’re so self-absorbed that they lack joy and playfulness. She is phenomenal AND joyful, powerful and playful! What a gift she is to all of us who listen and all who play with her!
