I stopped watching Tomino Yoshiyuki's works after this show. I was so tired of the "everyone dies" school of conflict resolution that I could not take any more of it. To this day, I tend to steer away from creators who kill characters without a truly profound reason motivated by events and resolutions rather than just getting to the end of a story.
My first introduction to Dunbine was from a diecast Dunbine mecha figure that i bought at a toys peddler near my school in the early 90s. I didn't know about its story but i what i did know that this mecha figure must came from a mecha anime series in Japan, and i live in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was my favorite toy and i still miss it dearly to this day. Fast forward to the late 90s, this was the time when there were many VHS, Beta tapes and Laser Disc rentals, i saw a Dunbine laser disc at my local store but i never got the chance to rent it until it was closed down. I finally learned a bit about Dunbine's story and lore from its game that was released for the PS1. I was so happy at that time i got to meet with Dunbine again.
