Sheik holds a stick/spear because when prophet Muhammad SAW and all the Sahabas gave khutbas or went anywhere they held a stick/spear so sheik most probably is holding the stick/spear or there is another reason I am not aware of.

Straight No Chaser o believe and allah knows best I think he is trying to imitate the prophet PBUH because he used to give khutbas and lesson while using a stick I may be wrong but I think that's why hes doing it

Our prophet Muhammad s.a.w used to hold stick during khutbah and holding of stick in our hand is sunnah that's why we all Muslims do this

There are no hadith where the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered us to use the stick but it is known that rasoolullah (peace be upon him) used to offer khutbah while holding a stick
