God bless KZbin, the one avenue to undeserved immortality for a journeyman rock star like me! As a lifelong member of ShaNaNa, I still can't even find my old vinyl of this now (if my phonograph were in working order), so it's a great thing for affirming to my adult children that there's a real reason for my knowing the lyrics A to Z. My singer's choices owe a lot to worshipful regard for John Lennon on this recording, done to fulfill a KTel deal, in a Sherman Oaks, California, studio circa 1982.

Nobody I would rather hear from about this ! So many folks tried to cover Boney Moroney ... fucked it and failed is about all you can say about 'em. The real key is using HORNS like the original.. it wasn't a bloody guitar piece to begin with.. and trying to make it so.. exclusively made some pretty heavy hitters look dumb. Williams was everything that Little Richard thought himself to be..but never was. Yet who know Larry Williams now ? You guys did such wonderfully reverent work.. with great performances in your own right.. My hats off to you !

I always looked forward to watching Sha Na Na when I was little. I remember being 3 and had the hugest crush on Bowser. I wish I still had all my dad's old records and cassette tapes of Sha Na Na. I get the urge to listen to them now and then.

You can find a lot of the old stuff (pre-1976) new on CD on eBay. It’s how I got a lot of the old songs my mom had on 8-track.
