Ok, I'm in the process of making my needle book. So much fun, but, it's a lot of thinking and work . I'm making 5 of them, so I think it will take all year. I think your earring backs for the stick pins is brilliant. The metal ones I've seen are not attractive. I too am making those. I have made jewelry for years, so I have lots of crystals, thank goodness. I will keep going back to your video, and other ladies to get ideas. I have vintage doilies that were embroidered by my aunt and mom. The ones that have stains I'm going to cut up and make pockets. My girls will then have pieces of their grandma,and great aunts hands work.

This is stunning Julie. I have made them but mine were nothing like this. I love your use of wedding appliques and the dangle trim is so cute. Tip re cutting straight: a rotary cutter & ruler might help. Quilters use them. ☺
@PaperPlaywithJulieK6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the tip. I am really new to fabrics and sewing so I have a lot of stuff on my to buy list. Initially I did try an older rotary cutter that I had but it was meant for paper so of course it didn't work. Just glad I had laces and trims to cover it up the fact I can't cut straight.

Hi again. Did you glue the lace background on each page after you sewed the pages to the book, or did you decorate the pages first then sew it to book. I'm making some and need advice!
@PaperPlaywithJulieK6 жыл бұрын
I glued my background pieces of lace after I had sewn in my pages. Another option would be for you to sew them directly to the pages before you sew them into your cover. I was still pretty new to my sewing machine when I made this book so I chose to just sew in the pages first and then glue everything else in. I like using Fabri-Tac glue. I don't really think you can go wrong with whatever you decide to do. I have seen so many different ways to make these. I have even seen a few people who just do it all by gluing and then there are some ladies who sew everything in and others like me who do some sewing and some gluing. Just do whatever works best for you and your skills.

Thank you so much for your advice!!

Beautiful! How do you remove the appliqués off of the wedding dress?
@PaperPlaywithJulieK6 жыл бұрын
I mostly will use a seam ripper and carefully take the appliques off on the backside or underside of the wedding dress and if that doesn't work I just carefully cut around them. Any leftover material on the dress I use on other projects or make some sort of shabby chic flowers out of it so nothing goes to waste.

What size is the book
@PaperPlaywithJulieK5 ай бұрын
I am not 100% sure anymore what size this needle book was as I gave it away in a swap but I am thinking the cover was maybe 6 X 4 or 5 X 4 or similar if I had to guess.
