At last! I started making a fabric book for a lady with dementia that includes lots of sewing related bits and bobs as she used to be a great seamstress. I made all the pages but have been stuck on how to actually out it together with a nice spine. You are my saviour. Thank you x

Oh, my, goodness!!! Not only is your tutorial easy to follow, (you have a very soothing voice!), but your work is just amazing!!! I plan to make a fabric book, but not real sure about the infrastructure, but I want it sturdy enough to support the weight of the pages with all the laces, etc. I am so glad that I found your videos... I sure hope there are more to check out! TY for sharing your wonderful talent!!

Hello Ellen, thank you for your kind comments and for watching! I have never used real photos but I don't see why that would not work. I think if you back the photos with a card stock or light cardboard to give it some stability so it would not bend, I think it would work. Its a great idea. Take care, xo

Love the tutorial! have been wanting to make a fabric book for eons. A question: Is there a reason that you use glue to put your pages and spine together? Could they be sewn? Or would it add more bulk? Just wondering............Thanks!
@Pamperdpetals
@Pamperdpetals 7 жыл бұрын
Judy Twitty Hi Judy, I think sewing all of the layers of pages together would be great if your machine can handle it. I was afraid my machine might not handle the thickness. :-). Good luck with your book and thanks for watching. Hugs, Lequetta

p.s. LOL. I meant to ask you, please, should I use glue to attach all the embellishments? Is the gorgeous book on your video 7”x7”? It looks a bit different. Tyvm for your help. I really appreciate it.
@Pamperdpetals
@Pamperdpetals 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I use glue most of the time to attach fabric, lace and embellishments and I like Fabric-Tac. Not sure if I was using it at the time of this video but its my preferred choice of glue now. Sometimes heavy jewelry items need to be sewn on if its possible. Yes you are correct the books shown are not 7x7. The cream one is 9x6 and the color one is 8x6. Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. Good luck with your book and take care.

@Pamperdpetals

I totally understand and I hope this one works for you. A very dear friend of mine suggested that I make the chipboard spine wider so that there would be space between each page for embellishments. I have to give it some thought to see how that might work. Have fun making your book and thanks for watching.

Can you please describe how you use this thin muslin to print on, I see this being used rather than buying the packaged printer material. Confusing how this goes into printer. Thank you. Karen Amenson.
@Pamperdpetals
@Pamperdpetals 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, I find the thinest muslin that I can and then I have freezer paper that I bought a long time ago at my local grocery. It has a shiny side and a dull side. The shiny side is the side to put against your fabric and iron it on using your hottest setting. When the two are fused together be sure and iron on both sides to get rid of any bubbles or air pockets, then trim them down to 8 1/5 by 11. I usually cut the fabric and paper a tiny bit larger and then trim after ironing to the perfect size. I have to feed my sheets in manually one at a time, it does not work if I put it in the paper tray where you normally put your printer paper. Hope that helps. 🌹

Great video. Do you glue everything else in such as doilies and laces or do you sew them. Sometimes I find that the hot glue shows and doesn't look very neat so when putting on a lace piece for the pages how would you sew that on. Thanks
@Pamperdpetals
@Pamperdpetals 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, I have actually done it both ways, the first few books I made I sewed everything in but then I started using hot glue and yes sometimes it does show and you will end up adding something on top to cover the glue spot. When adding laces to your page, if your lace does not have a straight edge then look for a place on the lace where you can make tiny hidden stitches to sew it to your base page. I hope I have answered your question. Try your best to use matching thread, that helps to not see your stitches. Have fun making your book. 💖

beadlady aes Hi, I think you could sew the pages to the spine as long as it's not too thick for your sewing machine to handle, also make sure you have enough edge so that you don't accidentally stitch into the chipboard spine. ;-).
