As somebody that owns a rabbit and works in an animal shelter, it's impossible to own a rabbit and not have hay (it's not straw) get everywhere because a rabbit will track it all over your floor whether you want it or not. All exotic pets have downsides and that's just one of them for rabbits. But if you're going to call that "dirty" then every pet owner has a dirty house since every cat and dog will shed their hair all over the carpet, furniture, and their owner's clothes.

​@@srkares OK, I didn't want this to become a big educational thing on rabbit ownership, but I think people don't understand what it's like to own one. It's not likely straw because you can't buy it at most stores as it's useless (and a little dangerous) for pets. Hay can be found at big pet stores because gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, and guinea pigs eat it also. Rabbits don't need bedding for the most part--they just flop and go to sleep; some can be trained to use a pet bed, but most won't. Hay is brittle and tends to break into tiny pieces, and since it's so light then it can go outside of the feeding area easily. If cats are somehow cleaner because they don't track grass around the house, well, it's very common that cats track their litter around the floor also. It's the same thing. Anyway, I was only commenting because people were implying that rabbits are somehow dirty animals. But if "hay on the floor" = "dirty", then every pet is dirty because they all do stuff that messes up your house. For that matter, I've seen people that live in extremely dirty homes without owning any pets. It's also likely that Japanese are so obsessed with cleanliness that any mess becomes unsightly to them and that's why Coco and the others complained. Most people buy a Roomba to clean their whole house, but Kanata is using it to clean her room (one room). That sounds pretty extreme.

as someone who has had rabbits before, they are hard to keep a room clean! there will be just random straws of hay everywhere even if you broomed the floor just yesterday. in order to keep a room as tidy as Coco would have expected, Kanatan would have to broom everyday and vacuum quite often. this is considering that she doesn’t have carpet in her room, as she’d have to pick up the big straws by hand for her roomba to work!
