This was very helpful thank you. I got 2 triangle shade sails because of my old neighborh's recommendation and her promise to help me how to plan and hang/ install them. But she bailed on me and I have been trying to figure out how to put the 2 sails nicely and effectively. I will try this weekend. 😊

Very nice video, clear and concise. I am thinking of a shade sale for my deck at home to replace too many failed failed umberellas over the years. I'll check out your website next.

Are the sails made for high winds like 40-50mph?

Good breakdown of the options available! It would also be good to include in your specs a typical load the post needs to support to help people size the attachment. What kind of pull can we expect on the anchor point with various winds level.
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, we will be expanding our FAQ section this fall to include more guidance on posts and attachments points. It's difficult to provide exact loads because it depends on many different things; the shape and size of the sail, the heights of the attachment points, the amount the sail is tensioned. We recommend a minimum of 6"×6″ timber post or 5.5″ outside diameter Steel post with a 1/4″ wall. Your posts should have a minimum footing of 18″ diameter x 4′ depth with concrete in compact, non-virgin soil. Any other questions, please let us know

how is it with all the maple tree leaves, and i mean lots of leaves falling. i want something to keep leaves off my patio furniture
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi Monique, shade sails can certainly be used for this purpose, however, there are 2 things, in particular, to take into account. 1) Slope - much the same as preventing water from pooling on your shade sail, we would recommend flying your sail on a slope of 20º or more. 2) Branches - Just be aware that old branches falling from the tree could cause damage to your sail.

6x6 that's quite a hefty post!
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is! In order to properly tension a shade sail the post needs to be substantial or it will bend from the pressure. There are lots of photos in our gallery that show the different types of posts our customers have used and how they've helped them blend in with their space

4 × 4 ok to anchor a 24 × 24 triangle canopy ? I was going 3 ft deep with concrete
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Erd. We recommend a minimum of 6×6″ timber post or 5.5″ outside diameter Steel post with a 1/4″ wall. Your posts should have a minimum footing of 18″ diameter x 4′ depth with concrete in compact, non-virgin soil. A 4"x4" will be too small to hold a sail of that size.

If I have two shade sails can I attach them to the same connection point?
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely, as long as your posts and footings are of the minimum recommended requirements, you can attach two sails to the same attachment point. We recommend a minimum of 6×6″ timber post or 5.5″ outside diameter Steel post with a 1/4″ wall. Your posts should have a minimum footing of 18″ diameter x 4′ depth with concrete in compact, non-virgin soil.

Are they water resistant? Also what is your largest size you sell?
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV3 жыл бұрын
Shade Sails aren't typically waterproof but we do sell waterproof shade sails www.shadesailscanada.com/products/waterproof-shade-sails/ All waterproof sails are custom and we can accommodate pretty much any size. You can use the calculator on the product page to get a quote for whatever size sail you're thinking of

Can you attached to shingles?
@ShadeSailsCanadaTV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. The best piece of hardware for a shingled surface would be a welded screw eye, however, you need to make sure you're screwing into something substantial behind the shingles such as a truss. Plates and brackets aren't ideal as there is no flat surface.
