This gfx mode was previously used in Eye Ache 2 (1997), Anamnesis (1999), Adventurer #11 intro (2000), and Stellar Contour (2001).

As far as I'm aware, none of those were timed for the original Sinclair 128 though, only Pentagon. And contention delays are a really significant hurdle to overcome here, so I think I can still legitimately claim it as a platform "first" :-)

@@Gasmanic I don't quite understand your position at Pouet then. A few years ago, when you were friends of VBI (maybe you were unaware that he is a Nazi and advertizes the Right Sector in his FPGA demo "Synchronization" and his KZbin channel "WayBester"), you have moved ATM-Turbo (the sequel to Pentagon 128, created in 1991 by the same authors, MicroArt) from "ZX Spectrum" platform to something named "ZX Enhanced" (together with VBI's FPGA demos, a genre that was previously released as Wild), but you left Pentagon in "ZX Spectrum" platform. Now you say that Pentagon is a different platform.

@@alonecoder600 I don't think I've ever even exchanged emails with VBI... having the same opinion on one specific point about demo categorisation doesn't make us friends. And no, I still don't consider Pentagon to be a different platform for the purpose of categorisation. but I do regard this demo as a new achievement *within* the Spectrum platform, in the same way that it would be a new achievement if someone implemented an effect on Spectrum 48K that was previously only done on the 128.

@@Gasmanic Having the demo work at some kind of Western Spectrum is good, but it doesn't work at any Eastern Spectrum. This is exactly the opposite situation to Eye Ache 2 etc. For example, without a Pentagon fix, the largest ZX Spectrum demoscene archive ZXAAA (12776 prods) cannot host your demo. Early Russian multicolor demos even include hand tuning, because there were many different 224T machines (not to say about others), and the standard emulator Pentagon fix is just one of 4 possible Pentagon fixes (I had 3 of them in my Pentagon boards). As for subdivisions, this is a very serious question. Even three. 1) Imagine you are a Russian. Why upload stuff for Russian Spectrum clones (NB: we don't use Western machines here) to Pouet if you move it to FPGA subdivision (no matter how it's named, it's filled with VBI's FPGA prods from the beginning) and don't count their achievements as Spectrum achievements? You have effectively closed Pouet for them. 2) Imagine you are a newcomer to the demoscene. Why watch these blocky or black-and-white Spectrum 48K/128K demos if you have all shiny C-64 made in USA? C-64 is superior! No matter that ZX Spectrum has been upgraded for many years and has tons of software for these upgrades (personally, I know over 1100 titles, of which over 600 are for ATM-Turbo 2+). You have hidden that from the newcomers. 3) Imagine you are constructing a new ZX Spectrum clone, for all the ZX Spectrum glory. How do you know that you should support Pentagon and ATM-Turbo 2+ compatibility to make the users happy? Unless you are a Russian, of course. Dividing the scene by borders, again?
