You may have been trying to make people laugh, but you actually showed a level of excellence in dancing to be commended! Many men would never bother to put on pointe shoes, let alone dance in them! What you thought was exagerrated choreography actually looked exactly like what female dancers are required to do, in extending their bodies and holding difficult positions until the last micro-second to bring out the most emotion possible in the production and the audiences' reactions. All three of you are actually quite talented and strong! Thank you for sharing this performance with us!

Can I just say, to all the people down here who saying that only a man truly secure in his masculinity would do something like this: you are absolutely half right. That's a revolutionary statement as far as men who are masculine and heteronormative, but what about the one's who aren't? What about the guys who identify as more feminine??? I don't know anything about these dancers. They could very well be straight and cis, but if they're not, that's okay too! It makes me sad to see people moaning about "why'd they wear tutus" or "ewww... but they're dudes". The pointe (pun intended) is that this was very well done. I don't think the majority of people are realising that this is a complete dynamics shift for these guys. Men aren't allowed to use soft, pretty port de bras in ballet, they don't usually do too many adages, extensions, or simple light allegro when performing, and they never dance on pointe unless the character is laughable and intended to be ugly. They have trained for years as male dancers and they suddenly made this complete shift to make everything feminine. And you know what: THEY DID FUCKING AMAZING. I just had to say that... my conscience wouldn't let me rest until I did.

Rachel Bono so when we say “secure in masculinity”people generally mean a straight man feels comfortable and un threatened bu wearing female clothes. It’s like if a male wore women clothing on average and had to be secure enough to wear mens. It works that way too. But generally speaking men are afraid they’ll look less strong. Less caveman like and butch or whatever if they show emotion, dress in females clothing for some reason, etc. That’s the general gist of it.

Also, I’ll say this: MALE AND FEMALE BALLET DANCERS ARE **EXTREME ATHLETES.** Anyone who doesn’t realize that needs only to observe the control, flexibility, strength, & agility, all in the context of what looks like grace and ease. It ain’t easy! I could watch Derek all day - he looks like he’s having a ton of fun. It's when I see this kind of video that i tell myself : why boys cannot make girls variations in real ballet?? Your so fucking good men, and it's really beautiful! It's sad that ballet is so restrictive... Ps: sorry if i make written fault i'm very bad in english 😅

Derek Dunn is a great dancer, his technique is so clear always , i'ts a pleasure to look at him ; all the minimal parts of his movements are perfectly constructed and delivered. I think that he's one of the four more talented male ballet star in the world. 💚

Correct me if I’m wrong but putting guys guys on pointe can be used as some strengthening thing to improve their jumps or something right? (I remember reading or seeing something like that some where)
@geeklinggirl

Cassie Smith Yes it is. Pointe work can help strengthen your arches and ankles, which is really helpful when you’re doing petite allegro and stuff, which male dancers have to do all the time.

When you're jealous of a man in a tutu Seriously though, they did amazing and I wish I could dance like that, even though I just started pointe. Also, I know this was a couple years ago, but I'd love some context since men don't usually do pointe. Did they already train in pointe or did they train in pointe for videos like this and for fun?

This is was so inspiring because men don’t get on pointe and it’s just amazing that these man have the guts to show their love for ballet through this dance. I am so proud of these men and all of their success. All I can say is keep dancing and never give up because you have amazing things coming your way. 😁😊🙂👍🏽♥️

This was honestly gorgeous. To see the strength of the male body on pointe, it's like, paradigm-changing. There is literally no reason why men shouldn't wear pointe (and women shouldn't dance male parts). It's really cool to see how different body types inhabit different dance styles (and this might open things up for more diverse women's bodies in dance - like taller and more muscular).

Очень красиво, я и лично заценила и натянутые ноги, подьемы, растяжку.. Но блин.. Двоякое чувство.. Лично мне больше нравятся мужчины в роли Спартака, Щелкунчика, Тореодора.
