The worst thing I see about it from the videos is the handlebars aren't supposed to be there. I mean, they're where handlebars are supposed to be, but those are from some Yamaha Virago. The ST1100 had styling that the CBR1100XX used, which gave the rider more of a leaned forward position. Basically, the ST1100 was the Blackbird before the Blackbird was made. Of course, the engine was set in sideways and the Blackbird used the inline four, but the two bikes were very similar in many ways. For $750, and being able to piss off a centipede, you did good!!! DISCLAIMER - Some poor ass Virago rider is searching high and low for his handlebars outside some seedy beer joint in the swamp lands of Florida....

Well Josh, i just caught the video on Raspberry Boofay 2.0 and it was a hoot. I like the older bikes that have depreciated off the market but still have lots of miles left in them. My heart bleeds for the older Wings (I have 2 and would have more) seeing them left to rot and get dusty in some shed or barn. I recently saved an '88 1500 from the salvage yard and with minimal effort and important maintenance, it runs and drives like a new one. I love the old technology as you do, especially since I'm such an antique myself! Rock on brother.....love your channel.

Welcome to the realm of V4 owners! The ST1100 / Pan-European was indeed designed with Europe/Germany in mind. Germany, where at that time highway speed limits were optional. Speed wobble can also be caused by the vacuum / uplift effect behind the windscreen or bad rear shock. When you finally have time to go over it, check out the swing arm, they tend to rust a bit too much. Other than that, 82000 miles / 131000 km is nothing for a Pan. That starter sound reminded me of something... Riiiight, MY starter! I'm secretly hoping to save enough to buy a used ST1300.

The music playing over the glamour shots of the ST1100 was perfect. I was waiting for that left side grip to fall to its death when you took your hand off the bars. As far as the wobble goes, the steering nut might just need to be torqued down a little. If not, throw some new tapered rolling bearing in there and call it a day.

The ST 1100 was Honda's answer to the BMW K range and it beat them at their own game. A mate of mine has one with 200,000 km on it and it still has plenty of power and rides extremely well. The seat, on the other hand, will put callus's where you don't want them. The seats are woeful.

Had a '96 ST. Rode from Ohio to Alaska & back. I'd would suggest pulling the final drive off the drive-shaft, replace the seal and grease the splines. Mine failed on me in MN on my way up to Alaska. Not sure if the slave cylinder is still available but you should be able to just rebuild it. Some of those wobbles could be the top box. Try taking if off then riding on the slab. Good luck & enjoy!
@DennysPlantBasedJourney3 жыл бұрын
STs run hot. That is a known issue. They will cook your legs. I had an ST1300 that was hot hot hot. I was going to install baker wings but found a goldwing that I bought so I sold the ST1300. Also, they are known for the wobble. Most people put the fork stabilizer on the forks. It makes a huge difference. Also, many people put on Two Brothers or similar exhausts and it does sound great. It looks like they didn't do much maintenance on the bike so you will have some work to do... but that just gives you more content. I love the ST series and if they would come back out with it (assuming they will fix the heat and wobble issues) I'd buy another one. They are great bikes and have cult followings. There are several forums where you can get all kinds of help, parts, and more.
