I have been painting (acrylics mostly)for a couple years and I never realized, or remember hearing in tutorials, to use a complimentary color to creat the shadow color. Thank you for sharing that!

Very nice video Emma! I'm looking forward to attempting this technique, as shading has always been a struggle for me. You've really simplified it. Thank you!

Thank you for this tuturial! May I ask you to do the same for flowers with many petals, like peonies or roses? I struggle with that a lot.

I have a question! Being that the ornaments are round... is that why the highlight you had was "round"? To accentuate the roundness of the ornament? I have to say that I am enjoying the videos and appreciate the time you put into them. Tell me more about your brushes and the monthly art boxes (and everything else I have missed). I truly am a brush hoarder, my father did watercolor (kept him sane) I was given all of his supplies when he passed. Dried out tubes I am cutting open and using as pans (one is marked 35cents). Anyway, off to do my morning practice strokes. Thank you for everything you do. ❤️

Hi Emma I love your tricks and tips and all your vids as I am a TRUE BLUE newb! I was able to afford a winsor newton cotman 45 1/2 pan set. When I opened the paints flew everywhere.....I was so disappointed. I've managed to get them in order but afraid it's going to happen again once I've got the wrappers off. I did open one to test a glue dot put they don't come off the roll nice. What do you all do to secure the paints or do you just know your colors well enough to not bother with anything. I need help please and thank you. Love your channel tfs

Yes, they do fall out of that big plastic box (I've had one for years and the clip is still stiff!). It's a shame because it's a nice box. It's pretty much the same with all these plastic boxes, but this one is difficult because it's so big and the opening is quite tight, However, buy some magnetic tape from your local DIY store. If necessary, cut the strips to the width of the channels in the box. Then stick some of this on the bottoms of each pan. The pans should then stay in place. It doesn't matter that it makes them sit a little higher, because there's enough height in the box. Even with the magnetic tape in this one, try to remember to open *any* paint box over something to catch any strays that will occasionally leap out (because occasionally one or two may decide to make an escape bid! 😃 When you have a little more cash and have decided what colours you're using most of the time, and how to mix other, buy an empty metal paint box with clips that hold the paint in, and put your favourites in there and keep that lovely Cotman box as your 'standby' for 'playtime'. The empty boxes are easy to find on Amazon, and aren't mega-expensive to save up for. Hope this helps. 😊

@@MrsBarnabas Thank you for the excellent tips. I like the one also about buying tubes and an empty box...will keep that in mind! Since I commented I've discovered glue dots. But then i discovered just gluing in the pans was not enough...the little cubes of paint are far from solid in there so I had to put the glue under them also then into the pans. So far so good. It's a chore sorting all those rebel paints and putting them in order but it's coming along. Thanks again and have a painterly day😃
