The added crew members honestly for me is making the videos significantly better. Not because Shad isn't already amazing, but the extra dynamic you get when adding more quality people is such a refreshing and fun aspect to already amazing content. There isn't a single person Shad has brought on to these videos that I don't like, or anyone who's even a meh. They are all great and I'm excited for this new chapter of Shadiversity.

The Flex Seal keeping the shield together makes me think of how windshields stay together due to usually being two panes of glass sandwiching a layer of plastic lamination. If something like this existed back in the day I could see somebody deciding to make shields that way.

You three really feel like you’re “clicking” together. Shad feels more relaxed, and the new people really helps and Tyranth adds props. A couple of things on how to improve this test: 1. Use a crossbow for more consistent arrow damage 2. The test should've been to smash the plain wooden one to pieces, then flex seal the pieces into a cohesive shield to match the solid plank with flex seal coat, and then see if the flex seal repair job made it better than a plain wooden shield and at least close to a wooden shield with a coat of flex seal, or if it somehow was even better than that

This new setup totally works. The subject material and the interaction is great. Guys. I'd love to see you test out different armor coverings. Imagine a shield coated in rawhide vs heavy cloth vs coarse sandpaper vs triple-think flex seal vs metal vs bare wood. I want to know how they would differently affect catching weapons vs deflecting them, and each of their durabilities. It would be interesting to see how they affect live sparring (could you test these out under safe training conditions with practice swords?).

The content is actually gotten better because Shad is talking to someone else more often and its a bit more natural feeling than talking to the camera. In this video, it also feels like Tyranth is the disciple Shad is training seeking the most approval from his master and can't wait to show his progress and his ideas while Nate is the older more reserved disciple getting dragged into the hijinks of the other over eager one. In other videos, Shad still has the solo presenter set up that still works well as it always has. As far as the guest presenter the other day, Shad did a good job picking him to work with. In a way it reminds me of the older videos where Metatron would present east vs west differences like Bushido vs Chivalry and differences in castles on Shadiversity so it was weirdly familiar feeling. You have a presenter that maybe you don't know but certainly seems capable coming on and proving himself with a solo presentation. And the final bonus is the content is getting a quicker turn around too. Shad definitely made the right call here for both him and the channel. The health stuff I can't speak on because I don't know what is helping or not. Hopefully, stepping back gets him either more time with his family or more time to work on the book since he won't be too wrecked by doing 100 percent of the physical stuff himself.

The one thing you guys didnt mention as this was just a basic test. Flex seal has two other things you could have done to help out. First off hide shields and metal shields can be easily coated with it to help increase its already supstaintail durability. While the second one is that you can multi layer flex seal. Coat it, wait for it to dry and coat it again and again till you feel confertable in its thickness or went over bored with it.

I have to admit this one was rather interesting, as a side note this kind of makes me wonder how modern "body armor" fares against medieval weapons...
@maximusjoseppi5904
@maximusjoseppi5904 Жыл бұрын
Modern body armor has a totally different objective than medieval armor along with different levels depending on the expected threat. Some is made for handgun calibers out of kevlar, which a knife sword or arrow would go right through. It's meant to flatten a small lead ball, not an edged or pointed weapon. Others are made for rifle calibers which are made out of steel if it's cheap or fancy composites which would stop all of the above if hit straight on. Modern armor only covers center mass vitals though because being able to move quickly and fluidly and not being shot in the first place is better than stopping a bullet. Modern armor is also only meant to work once and then it's integrity is compromised and it needs to be replaced.
@robertsmith4681
@robertsmith4681 Жыл бұрын
@@maximusjoseppi5904 That's kind of the point, the threat has changed and thus the requirements of armor have changed in order to be optimized to 21st century threats. I just wonder what would happen if we ran out of gunpowder and medieval weaponry came back in style as a result ...

I was going to say you should use a crossbow to ensure consistent force used, removing a large portion of human error, but then I realized you're in Australia, land of the overseers, and Australian peasants aren't allowed to have such things. Meanwhile the overseers have modern weapons which they used to ensure peasants couldn't leave their allotted area during the plague of 2019-2022. Australia is truly a modern society with a medieval class system.

For those that weren't around for the original flexseal commercial the "i cut the shield in half" was a perfect meme reference. 👌

But Flex Seal is supposed to be kind of a "first aid for hardware" kind of thing. So, would it be useful for field repairs on a gambeson? Or waterproofing old boots? Can it help in setting up a campsite? Just how "flex" is it? How much easier would Shad's life be if he didn't have to tie quite as many knots?
