I actually had this idea that maybe they find Maria as an old lady. Because if she was 10 or so when we saw her, and 50 years go by, she would be in her 60s. And maybe somehow, miraculously GUN was able to revive Maria somehow, using fancy technology, but in the end they brainwash her, and she ends of living a full life with no memory of shadow and is kept hidden.

This is what Maria deserved. She died too young too soon. She was already sick and yet they put a bullet in her. A child. She wanted to see the world again. But she never could ever again. They took that from her. She wasn't even given a proper burial and if I had to assume, her body was merely disposed of. Maria deserves a second chance at life. it would help with Shadow and help connect him more with those around him through her as well as mend relationships and bring some sense of peace to not only Shadow, but also the G.U.N commander.
