Thanks for review. The ability to replace the original camera with an action camera was the final point that decided me to order the P70 drone. The flight time and battery charge rates are my main concern, so I'll have to get a second battery.

HI, interesting video. I have the HS100 version of this drone. I think your MOD is practical and seems to work. My question is - when using the GoPro Hero 4, since it has WiFI abiility, wouldn't that give you FVP when connected to your phone or tablet? According to what I read on Hero4, it says up to 600 feet. How long does that battery last for?

Yes, technically if your action camera can generate its own WiFi FPV transmission, then yes, you should be able to receive WiFi FPV on your mobile device that is using the action camera's app. Most of these action camera's don't typically transmit their WiFi video for too far a distance, but if your GoPro can, go for it! :)

I'm planning on putting a GoPro on mine and got the mount but I have 2 questions. do you just pull the cables out to change the camera or does it need to be done with a special tool or what. and I ordered one like the white one. wouldn't there be a problem with the camera being upside down?

on my 2nd or 3rd flight i tryed the app and camera, not expecting very good footage but with no anti-vibration mod, totally stock setup, the footage was nearly no jello. wow. i do have to attribute that to my meticulous care of balancing the propellers the best i could and bingo, pretty dang smooth for a brushed quad and no mods. also noticed the quad antenna was stuffed way up into the bird so i poked a tiny hole in the bottom and ran the little wire through. I think its going to help some. couldnt hurt.

Do you know the properties of the camera wires? I was thinking of connecting a gimbal and using the wires that connect the camera to the power of a 2 axis gimbal so I'd still have control of the pivot and just extend the wires to still use the camera but better stabilization any help or info on the wiring would be great. It might be possible, but since this is a brushed motor drone with a 12 minute flight capacity...adding the weight, strain, & voltage of a motorized gimbal may not be too practical...it may severely limit flight performance, lift, and air time...

I would like to see a video on the motors it uses and if they are any good. Also are they replaceable motors?

They are brushed motors, but from my flight experience with it, they are very strong. I have flown it at the highest rate in windy conditions with a GoPro mounted on it, and it flies very smooth and cuts through the wind pretty well… I have flown it for a while and so far haven’t had any issues with the motors so far...

Those are the standard blue & black props that came with the Promark GPS Shadow Drone.

Did you lose any sort of stabilization when you removed the stock camera? Also did the drone behave any differently when you added the mount and camera?

I did not notice any change in flight characteristics once these mounts & camera were installed. As for how stable the footage was...it definitely was improved as the camera shoots in higher definition with more mega pixels & has internal EIS (electronic image stabilization) built in...

That may have been a bug within the app that was recently patched… Make sure you download the latest version of the mobile app and see if it still has this issue… Also, if you have the app installed on multiple mobile devices and use those devices for flying the drone, the settings will have to be saved on each instance of the app and mobile device…

I have the Bugs 3 and two mounts. Does it click in this drone or is it pretty secured otherwise? it didn't seem like it slid all the way in when you connected it.

Yes, it is secure with the Bugs 3 mount... I have flown it several times without any problems…

Yes, just like a GoPro has its own battery and you have to charge it independently… Whichever camera you use will most likely need to be charged and have its own battery… And yes, the mount does connect in the same area where the original camera is…

That is correct Ron, but at the trade off of having possibly 4k, gyro-stabilized footage... Perhaps you could load a camera that has its own app which allows FPV, but my experience with those is that they lose connection at fairly close range...

For almost $200 you would think these companies could put a decent camera on these quads. If your a first time quad buyer and you don't have a action camera sitting around and the mounts for it do you really save any money vs just getting something with a better FPV system, like the P3S, which I saw a link this week for $315.

Yes, that’s true. The stock camera is pretty good (no jello, clear), but a decent action cam is much better. The Phantom 3 Standard might be the ultimate budget drone, but this one is a pretty good starter drone and neat to have around...

These cameras are mainly intended to provide higher quality recorded video as a trade off for having short-range or possibly no FPV at all… You would have to research, but there may be a good GoPro type camera with long range FPV… That would be a good choice to add to one of these mounts…

You will mainly lose the FPV stream, but you can still use the app...

Cant use the app if the original camera is what the drones wifi works off of. Cant see the battery or know when its low so cant summon it home.

That might be possible, but the connections I saw at the moment were not compatible… Perhaps with a little modification, it may be possible to wire in an action camera so that it runs off of the drone’s power supply and maybe even generate the FPV transmission…

I haven’t tried, but I don’t think so… This is a brushed motor quadcopter and it may not be able to support the weight and motors of the gimbal… But it does well with a small action camera and a mount…

Well the process of adding & removing these propellers is not as simple as some other drones... What you do is first pull the silver caps off the tops of the propellers (some force/pressure may be needed). Then with the small included tool, un-screw the exposed silver screw hole (don’t lose the small piece). Once out, now you can proceed to lift and remove the propellers... Goodluck. ;)

It would need some form of a gimbal (which I don’t think this drone can support), although you can try using an action camera that has built-in EIS stabilization…
