Even I felt the pain shadow must’ve felt knowing that Maria and Gerald were going back to the ARK disaster and what would happen to them. I’d like to think that during the time they were pulled from their own time that they could figure out a way to avoid their fates. Maybe knowing how Shadow turned out would help Gerald find a cure for Maria and prevent him from going insane after seeing that Shadow saved the world again. It would be a branched timeline scenario, but damn, Maria and Gerald deserve a happy ending too

Shadow's usually always annoyed by or angry at a threat, but I've never seen him more pissed than this interaction with Black Doom and it's more than likely because he's not going to allow him to get anywhere near Gerald or Maria. Just like she's the only one to make him truly happy, Black Doom is the only being that ruffles Shadow's quills to the brim

Yup, this design choice was done on purpose, to help convey that Maria was innocent and pure, but also curious and adventurous, and was never afraid of the unknown (in fact, Maria seems to hold a fascination for the macabre and creepy to an extent; she was very enthusiastic about Shadow, despite most of everyone else finding him unsettling, and she thought that the Artificial Chaos aboard the ARK were “very cute”. She also nursed and took care of a baby Biolizard.)

Maria's death and that event is crucial and the starting point of his story, development, and eventually gets him to make his own choices that show who he is. Sega bringing back Maria to life ruins his story and makes his development meaningless. Miguel is wrong about canon events but there is a difference between a "Canon Event" and an event that is intended by the creator writing the story.
