Shadow of Mordor - How to get 'The Hunt is my Mistress'

This was hardly the ideal run, but it shows the strategy I use to get an Elite ranking on the Test of the Wild, which is required to get the 'The Hunt is my Mistress' achievement. The twists and turns I encountered made for a more interesting video than an ideal run, I think.
The strategy, in short, is to reveal the locations of every captain by sending them death threats and then moving from Fort Morn to Núrnen Fishery on Graug back, killing as many captains as possible. Once that is done, you should have roughly 10 captains killed with Monsters. After that you go for the Warchiefs, killing their bodyguards first (during the Warchief mission) so they don't take the Warchief's place when you kill him.
If everything goes right you'll have plenty of time to mop up the remaining captains, if not, well, you improvise, you adapt, you overcome (and sometimes you get lucky).
I've got counter-prompts disabled and that may well be the reason for my one death. Beast Butcher's explosive shots are barely telegraphed if they are at all.

I was using a written guide and only after watching this did I realize you are suppose to use a Graug not a Caragor. Also didn't realize how important it was to use Threaten to make them easier to spot on the mini map. Thank you for the guide

Huh, I just realized I don't remember _ever_ killing a captain with a caragor in Shadow of Mordor, they just really don't help you much as a mount in that game. But then before I started doing runs for the Test of the Wild I also didn't know how broken graugs are, so maybe I just haven't figured caragors out yet :P Either way, I'm glad my video could be of help :)

I know that you made this 2 years ago, but I want to thank you for giving me a good strategy for completing this challenge. I thought you tips and advice in this video were helpful in many ways. After spending over 3-4 hours on this, I can say that this was a great challenge even after watching this video. Again, thank you for the guide!

16:08 Yeah I did that too first time. killed the warchief and then a captain became warchief, so i had zero warchiefs killed. Zugor deals some very fast powerful fire blasts. He's easy to take down from a distance if he doesn't see you. I branded him to use for riots vs the other warchiefs but he killed them too quick .

Zugor is a menace :| I didn't make much use of setting captains against each other here. I imagine it's too slow to for captains, but ordering riots with the warchiefs could speed things up, if you can manage the order in which the enemies die.

I never knew the projectile vomit will kill them. Good if there are a lot of uruks surrounding a captain, and he's hard to grab

Man, this feels a lot of nerve racking because of the timer. I’m about to start with the DLC and to get this trophy will be a challenge with all you have to do in under 40 minutes.

I feel the same whenever I have to do things with timers, but what helps me is treating every run as a practice run. The goal isn't to win, it's just to explore the challenge, discover what you struggle with and try new things. Takes off a lot of the pressure and you'll play better for it, and if you end up not making it, that's okay, there's always the next try. The trick to almost every challenge (in gaming and irl) isn't to be really good at it, it's to be stubborn enough to fail until you don't :)

@@Alpha545 Yeah true. I had almost beating it yesterday with your strategy and kill all the captains and warchiefs in time but l didn’t score enough points and ran out of time. Had 12,000 points. But l’m really struggling with this Warchief Zugor Beast Butcher with these fire arrows since he is resistant to many attacks and l keep dying. I only way to kill him is with fire arrows and shadow strike and you have to do it very quickly or he would just regenerate his health smh.

@@seanhenderson2498 Well, I'm confident you're well on your way. Don't forget to use death threats to get more points from captain kills as well. As for Zugor, you may want to take some time to set up a build that fits him better, more elf-shot/focus recovery, something like that. Time doesn't pass while in menus, so feel free to pull up a menu if you need time to think :)

@@Alpha545 All my god. I just realized that you have to complete all the objectives. Wow man! That sucks. I manage to get the points and kill all the Warchiefs and Captains in time but l didn’t get the at least 10 Captains killed by monsters. Dang it! I probably just gonna take a break and do it tomorrow lol.

Did you have a set path you followed to gain all the intel so quickly?

Not really, I just used whatever Intel I could find on the Warchiefs. Intel/Worms doesn't spawn consistently, but you should come across enough that you can reveal the Warchiefs' weaknesses.

How do you get access to test of the wild??

Assuming you have the Lord of the Hunt dlc, it's in Trials of War (I think that's what it's called) once you select your save. Is that what you mean?

Yes, Graugs are quite overpowered in Shadow of Mordor :) Graug grabs are insta-kills.

And if you hold down A on xbox they run pretty fast. In case you just want to run to an adjacent area and search for captains
