After numerous fails with different strategies, I beat the Test of the Wild in Shadow of Mordor and earned “The Hunt is My Mistress” achievement, as well as “Lord of the Ring” - this was the last achievement I needed for 100%. I finished the test using the main strategy (not my own idea - I've seen this mentioned on message boards) of dominating the warchief Ugakuga Graug Rider (UGR) and then sending him to riot against the other warchiefs. UGR is a very good tank and doesn’t die easily, though I made sure not to mess around when it came time to face Zugor Beast Butcher (asshole fire arrow shooter - extremely deadly, but can be taken out easily with a volley of well-placed arrows from above).
The ideal setup is rioting against another warchief who has multiple bodyguards, shooting the graug bait (there is one hanging near every riot spot, and it’s important to know their locations), and then make the graug nomnomnom all the captains while UGR tanks the warchief. You have to make sure to keep some distance between the graug and UGR so as not to accidentally eat your warchief while you’re trying to scoop up a captain. When you’ve eaten the captains and the enemy warchief, return to UGR and force him to start another riot. Rinse and repeat.
Some captains are super weak to beast attacks and will die simply when you run over them with the graug, and these will count toward the 10 captain beast kills. Therefore, it’s worth starting out each riot by mounting the graug and running straight through the whole lot of captains and warchiefs - UGR will get stomped but he can handle the damage. Eliminating several uruks with headshots at the very beginning of the riot is also useful; this tactic thins the herd so there will be fewer enemies in your way when you try to scoop up a captain for 2nd breakfast.
For points, the epic sword rune Tower of Defense (“Increase hit streak reset time plus 10 seconds”) makes the 13k points goal much easier, as you will be able to build up greater hit streaks, which will improve your score. You should also kill any caragors that you ride to your destination, as they are worth good points; same for graugs when you are done with them. Also, after you have sent UGR to start another riot, you can dispatch all the remaining branded uruks for extra points - but be absolutely sure that UGR is safe and gone, otherwise he too will die from the dispatch kill and this might fuck up your whole run.
I do not recommend the approach of grabbing a ton of intel at the start of your run - only enough to reveal UGR. But later into your run you can start grabbing nearby intel - there may even be some lingering intel in your riot party - and you can narrow down the locations of the remaining captains. If a captain is not tied to a power struggle event and is instead located wandering deep inside a stronghold, definitely send UGR to riot against that captain. This will create a new riot so you don’t have to go into the stronghold to fight the captain (where your graug may not even be able to reach them).
Lastly, this challenge depends on quite a bit of luck since all the captains are random and you could end up with one or two really tough (or laughably easy) kills that can tip the scales against you or in your favor at crucial moments. Overall I think this is the toughest challenge in the game due to the short time limit.
Last note: I played this on PC GOTY edition (CPU i5-4690, GPU GTX 1080) using an X1 controller.
