Hands down the best arrangment of a SOTC OST I've heard. I don't know what's better if the sheets or the execution. I don't want to be a bother but if you have the sheets lying around, it would make my year to have them in my possesion, I wouldn't mind paying for them ofc.

Even as a pianist I'm not a huge fan of reductions because they often feel hollow or cheesy compared to the originals. But this arrangement was accurate, seemed idiomatic, and was performed very well. The voicing was great, and you took advantage of the piano's strengths to keep things interesting (1:39). Plus I like how you took some liberties that didn't diverge too much from the spirit of the original. Overall, so good it made me wonder if Otani doesn't write piano-first. Thanks for sharing your work!

Making it idiomatic is the other pillar of arranging, the first being getting the right notes!

I think he does write piano-first. There was an interview for when he did the Diablo soundtrack up on KZbin (for some reason it's been removed, unfortunately) and he said he writes his pieces very fast, and then there was a shot of him composing for piano in a very unusual way (he was flying through the entire piano, probably trying to mimic an orchestra)

I don't think we'll ever be able to purchase the dvd set, it seems like it was a Japanese release and it's from 2008 or something lol so I went looking for it on ThePirateBay and I found it, but there were no seeders so it's not downloadable :( a real shame
