He seems to use Chaos Control without requiring a Chaos Emerald. He needed one in SA2, but I'm not sure about later games and media.

So aside from completely removing Black Doom from it, Shadow's backstory is mostly faithful to the games with minor alterations that better fit the world of the movie.

As solid as sonic 3 was i really wish they didn’t change up shadows story like this ESPECIALLY because it would have been a perfect stepping stone to an unexplained plot point in these movies…why did people on Sonic’s homeworld want his powers so badly
