Thanks Dave! I watched and recognized that video as well. Mike from Tactical Considerations handled that situation as well as it could have went with the incident and I owe him a beer for it. Its no easy thing giving orders to someone with a gun, let alone having to escalate to deadly force. Truly an exemplary job. I appreciate it and I do take training very serious, and scoop up as much as I can outside of my agency sponsored stuff when there is time! As with anything, a full time law enforcement job, or any job for that matter, family, life in general can make it tough! But gotta find the time! Sincerely appreciate you support!

I'll get the P model whenever I get back in to working security part time. Thanks for that learning lesson at the end about the compensators. I knew what compensators did, but haven't done much research on them. I wouldn't mind seeing Shadow Systems making AR15 rifle. or something similar with the same purpose in mind. They seem like they could be a very promising company for widening their range of gun categories.

I have the P model and it chokes on 115 grain ball ammo , runs HP’s fine and 124 grain , you’re absolutely right , test ammo to see what it likes , overall I love it, like you said it’s very flat and pleasant to shoot , can spend hours at the range without unnecessary fatigue . The irons also co-witness with my optic . For and finish is excellent and the feel in hand is nearly unmatched. Also like that the front sight is fixed on the comp making getting back on target faster if you’re relying on the irons , I prefer a blacked out rear so for me it’s perfect . I have a regular DR920 with threaded barrel. I added the SS comp when it came out. Overall, I wish I'd have just waited for the DR920P to come out.... I can't really tell too much difference with the comp on it. I'm sure it helps a bit, but I know the compensated model has a much bigger port, and would obviously do a better job. I've had people tell me to shoot +P through it and you'll really feel it shine. Well, if I have to shoot +P through it, why bother? LOL. Just shoot 115 or 124 without a comp! I'd love to shoot a DR920P to see if the difference is worth the money for me to pick one up.

They do more so on rifles but with handguns, it’s little to no difference. This is likely due to the high velocity of a rifle round vs handgun.

Mike just found your channel. I’m on the fence about purchasing the DR920P. I wish you would have expanded on the break in period. I’ve got around 10,000 rounds thru my Glock 17 and love it. But I just turned 68 and looking more at the compensated weapon. Any thoughts about the break in period?

It’s 200 rounds or so shadow systems states and explicitly states. However in every pistol of theirs I have shot only one of them needed it. The XR920. They state their pistols are fit tighter than standard Glocks and in my experiences this is the case, so they need broken in. Every manufacturer states a break in period in the owners manual, even Glock. But Shadow is the only one to make it well known. With the DR920P it shoots very easy with nearly no recoil, for you it would be perfect!

The IDPA equipment appendices clearly specify the opposite.

a few things to note here, 1) not everyone wants or needs a red dot. I have guns with and without as a matter of fact I have 2 identical DR920's one with and one without, I prefer the without model. 2) Shadow Systems needs to make a flat faced Aluminum competition 2-2.5 lb trigger as an option.

How would the DR920 compare to a threaded DR920 with their thread on compensator? The port on the DR920P looks larger than the port on the thread on compensator, but would it make that much of a difference?

9:24 I have the P, but I would NOT say it shoots like a laser beam. People may get disappointed to find that it does indeed have some muzzle rise. It’s so light that it feels like a toy. If it had some more weight, I bet it would indeed shoot like a laser.

It shoots flatter than a legion and every bit as flat as a Spectre Comp Legion or even an M and P we kitted out from Faxon parts and did a review on. Sure it’s light but it’s a polymer gun. All comped pistols still have muzzle rise, just like comped AR type rifles do, they just mitigate it. thanks for sharing your personal experience!

No I do not. I think we have a lot of folks who aren’t familiar with comps on pistols and expect them to run reliably with all ammo. That just isn’t the case. thanks man!! Stay tuned! Lots in the works!

Another awesome review. How do you compare the DR920p to the Sig p320 AXG Legion ? Shootability, reliability, and for smaller hands? The AXG grip module felt amazing in my hands and I prefer the grip module of the MR920 over the DR920 but there is no compensated version of mr920

We plan on doing a comparison between the two pistols but the AXG Legion is a softer shooting pistol and offers some things I wish the DR920P had. The DR feels smaller in hand and would be better for smaller hands and in addition, the AXG Legion is a lot heavier than the DR920P. Both are top of the game in shootability and both have been 100 percent reliable.

@@HuntFishShootChannel Thanks Mike. If I get a shadow systems gun, I’m leaning towards a MR920 combat vs elite with the threaded barrel, and then decide later if I want to get a comp or suppressor. The MR920 grip is better ergo wise for me over the DR920. Also, I’m not totally sold on having a compensator on the end of a gun that would be anything but a range toy (which this wont be). I’ll look forward to the comparison video you do between the two. Just curious: What do you wish the DR920p had that the AXG has ? I’m guessing you love the modularity of the p320, but anything else ? I’m still on the fence about the p320 safety issues (holstered guns going off), as much as I love the ergos of the AXG. @salmalad752 I don’t personally buy into this nonsense about the 320 going off in the holster or without an inadvertent trigger pull. As far as wishing if the DR920P had things like the AXG would be the overall weight of the pistol and 3 21 round magazines. But the P is quite a bit cheaper and built off the venerable Glock design. My favorite striker fired pistol in my safe is my DR920L which is just like a G34. It’s a great combo between soft shooting and ultra reliable. Next is the AXG Legion, then Echelon, the PDP Pro SD, then MR920. In that order! Thanks for asking!

@@HuntFishShootChannel I went back to the store today to handle MR920, DR920, and the AXG legion. The legion HANDS DOWN felt better in my hands. I know the bore axis is lower in the SS, but after handling their guns side by side with the p320 AXG grip, it’s not even comparable. Even with smaller hands, the ergos are so much better with the AXG. The beaver tail and the grip seem to help so Much. If I had larger hands, then I think the DR920 would be perfect. it’s just too ‘blocky’ a la the typical Glock, but with a better grip angle than the Glock. If I could shoot them both, that would help a ton. Thanks again Mike -Sal

I have been trying to Get my DR920P to shoot more than 3 times without jams Nose up double feeds .\,It is trying my patience, I bought over 200.00 Dollars of hot ammo and it is still a Pain , I own some CZ parrot with Comp after one 25 round Box of P+P it would shoot 115 gr . I will keep shooting this Thing i am Determined.One thing the Grip texture is plenty agressive when you shoot hot ammo you find out how agressive it is ? So Far My canik Rival shot 115 gr out of the box . You will love the Dr920 P or hate it ,My verdict is still out ?

But I shot 150 rounds peed at jams Light primer strikes Streight up's and after 100 rounds it shot Two mags without a hitch I hink They are right You have to Put a minium of 200 Very Hot rounds , suggest 250 Put it is Finally starting to get much better ?I went and Got The New S&W Computer 1no break in at all But the shadow is working Pretty Good after The Trouble The First Mags Made me want to Throw it away But it is shooting Good now No doubt you have to Break The DR 920p It is not going to shoot unless you Follow Their. advice ? Hurt my feelings shooting expensive ammo But now i am Glad i Did ? I do not want less than a 15 Lb spring because it will wear and not Close the slide Quick enough ?

I bought a DR920P I can tell you to not waste your money. If you have any problems they will not fix it. Zero round count pistol sent in for trigger issues and returned with an 8 pound trigger pull
