Hell yeah man, ShadowDark is one of my favorite things to come out of the TTRPG scene recently. I love how despite being stripped-down, there's barely any loss of character expression from modern systems. It dared to be different, and it absolutely paid off.

Character death is not inevitable. Characters just need to be more strategic and realize they are not superheroes, and they cannot just hack away at every monster they see and live. It makes the game more suspenseful.

Regarding Conditions: while the rules don't list the specific "conditions," like 5E does, there is a paragraph on Conditions. Basically the GM is charged with adjudicating whether or not the character is currently experiencing a condition and whether or not advantage or disadvantage should apply there. I'm absolutely a fan of the OSR style of using GM adjudication in many instances instead of a maze of rules.

It’s a very solid point. It’s nice to just have disadvantage in your pocket and in essence “all” potential conditions at your disposal from a narrative perspective

15:15 "there are 100 encounters" close... there are 51 encounters as 1 and 00 each only have one and numbers 2 through 99 trigger a unique encounter on a pair of numbers. 2-3, 4-5, ...ect, 98-99.

I mix it up a bit, haha. I’ll knock those out soon. Part 2 I wanted to wait until I created my Encounter Generator website. Mainly because a “basic” encounter wouldn’t work as a show in this game because it’s not a tactical system. So now I feel like I can do it Justice ;)

Something about calling this a survival game rubs me the wrong way, it's like calling snake eater a survival game cause you try not to die. Flattens it out too much, not see the forest for the trees

Hmm, IMO the point is that it conveys to 5e players what their mindset should be. The dungeon is not a fun place to be. It's a place you want to spend as little time in as possible so long as you get what you came for. That's a big mindset shift.
