I would like to just talk about the wonderful song choices for this series. The first song here "War of Hearts" by Ruelle, is all about loving someone you shouldn't love, and even though you try your best not to love them you can't help it. You would die without them. And then we flash forward to Malec's wedding and the song is "I get to love you" by Ruelle. The song is about loving someone, and it's the best thing that has ever happened to Alec and Magnus, they GET to love each other. Not only are the two songs by the same singer, which symbolizes how it is still their story, and the only thing that has changed is the fact that they don't have to hide anymore. They are still the same people, however, instead of trying not to love each other they now get to love each other. "I can't help but love you, even though I try not to" and "I get to love you, it's the best thing that I'll ever do" the parallels of the songs, written by the same person, is amazing and I could talk about it for hours on end. One of the several things I love about this scene is that Magnus confidently stops Maryse midway while she talks but we can see how underconfident he actually is. He doesn't think that Alec would actually choose him, he is still unsure. We can see how he has this slight change of expression when Alec finally starts walking towards him. Till then he was just hoping and waiting to see what would Alec choose and then he finally has that sense of relief and happiness when Alec starts to walk towards him. Just🥰🥰🥰 also, it's 2020 and I'm still hooked on this scene.

I love that Lydia checks with Alec at 01:32 to make sure he still wants to do this. She understands the sacrifice he is willing to make for his family. I think she respects his determination but has mixed feelings, judging from her expression a few seconds later. I don't think she loves Alec, not romantically anyway, but I think she obviously cares for him, and his family. I imagine she's disappointed but also relieved that she won't trap him in a loveless, political marriage. Their relationship would likely have become strained over time and they would have grown to resent each other. She's right that Alec (and she herself) deserves to be happy. I wish we had seen more of her in the series. She was a great addition to the cast. Obviously, Alec and Magnus are the focus of this scene but I really like every part of it. Every actor is on point here, and the music fits it perfectly. Really a great scene.....Also, the silent brother tilting his head at 03:37 like "uh...what?" is kind of hilarious.
