Great technique. It takes some time to get used to, but once you get the hand of it, it's really helpful to spot the important content words and see how much longer and higher in pitch they are in comparison with the function words

This was probably the most "ear" opening video I've ever watched & listened to! And I love the fact that you're imitating the actors too as it not only provides guidelines for how to do it ourselves, but it's nice to hear how another native speaker (and more specifically, you, a voice that we're all familiar with) says the lines of the actors. I hope you'll consider making more imitation videos! Btw, do real people really talk this fast? I'm asking because I've noticed characters in American sitcoms/certain TV series are often quite "hyper," witty, and full of energy to the point where it's quite hard for me to follow. Is this aspect played up a bit for TV or do people really act this way?

I'm planning on making this a series of videos, and am currently working on the next installment. As far as how realistic the dialogue is, I think yes, people do really speak pretty fast in conversation, but they have more pauses to think, interjections like "um" and "uh," and the language isn't always so fast-paced and dense as it is when it's an actor doing a line from a written script. Another good source of material to imitate are interviews, like you might find on a news show or podcast. Sometimes the questions and answers will have been prepared ahead of time, but sometimes the person being interviewed will be having to think and talk at the same time, so it's fairly natural speech.

I think if you imitate a variety of TV and movies, as well as learning a few of the rules of intonation, you'll see improvement in a few months. Of course it depends on how much you practice, but once you start tuning in to intonation it will get easier.
