Also, the Shadomane can stay under water forever (no oxygen stat) and you can use weapons when riding it. I use it underwater to tame plesiosaurus and mosas.

PSA: I don't know if you can use fish traps in caves (may be a server setting), but you CAN fish in the hard snow cave on The Island for great loot since they're so big. Give it a shot with the traps.

A slight correction: if you jump you don’t take fall damage no matter the height, if you walk off or fall from much height at all you’ll take fall damage (not sure if it’s reduced or not tho).

Anyone who has carried a critter on a flyer knows that, if you fly too low over a wall and the critter clips into the wall, the flyer will drop it. While that is annoying when you are trying to get something out of an enclosed area, you can actually make dropping critters into a trap like the one in the video much easier by making use of that mechanic. The way to do this is to build your trap how you want it, but on the back side of the trap, build that wall one to two walls higher. Then, approach the trap on your flyer from the lower front end of the trap just high enough for the critter to clear the low front wall but not high enough to clear the higher back wall. This will clip the critter into the back wall knocking it out of the flyer's grip and dropping it down into the trap. If the trap is narrow enough and there is concern that the critter may drift right or left over the lower side walls when it falls, you can raise those up as well so that you are flying into a U-shaped higher section, which will make it even easier to force the critter to drop straight down into the trap. A good technique is to use a dino gate for the back wall. Not only does this automatically give you a high back wall, but it also gives you an easy way to get critters out of the trap that cannot jump out like the Shadowmane can.

Modification to your trap design. I add one more wall on half the short sides and 2 more walls on one of the long walls. approach with the quetz "sideways" and use the taller wall to scrape the shadow off. It's a wider target and they have landed inside every time I've tried it.

Idk if you knew but you can do a mega jump if you hold left click right before you launch into the air. It sends you flying more than double the height of a normal jump

In the next game, it might be kool if they had an actual chameleon effect that changes the skin of you mount to match its surroundings. Instead of the unrealistic predator invisibility. Ooo, A giant chameleon mount would be awesome. It could even have a vision mode, Maybe like a rear view mirror or even a long range tongue attack, like a frog.

You can just jump into some water and the fish baskets you are carrying will reset the spoil timer.

I haven't seen that work, otherwise I wouldn't have to worry about spoil timer while trying to collect the fish.

@@juniper1313 I’m late but I tamed a lot of shadowmanes. In fact recently I had to wait a whole real life HOUR to get myself ready to separate them so I can tame the higher level one without worrying lol. Their stun is no joke, got yoinked off of my rock drake but he managed to kill the shadowmane. Anyways, whilst waiting (also count nighttime since they don’t sleep at night) I constantly went into the water which it in fact, did reset the fishes timer. You need to go fully into the water, not just stand in it. Be fully submerged and come back out, you’ll see the timer be reset✌️

You could you know stand in water with fish baskets to recover there health if its in your hotbar. So the only real timer you have is how close to the end of your 40 minute timer you want to wait.

You left out that if you put them to sleep after you tame them they regenerate health faster the lower it is! Super helpful after a fight

I just use piranhas because it’s easier but I’ll use a coel if I can. However one time I had a 2.5 coel and feed it to the shademane but that “its already eating” glitch messed it up. Smh

What's the difference of using coel instead of piranhas and salmon ?

Cole can be upto 2.5x in size, don't know what the max size is for Salmon or Piranah, but I have a program called Ark Savegame Visualizer and the biggest Salmon i can see on the Gen2 map A.t.m. is 1.8x and 1.2x for the piranah.

I think it’s overrated, the rock drake has enough of its abilities, and the astrodelphis with a saddle is practically an air and sea vehicle, and a reaper king can destroy a pack of these oversized kittens

None of those tames are cave mounts. Drakes are ok, but no breeding on unmodded servers limits their potential and same for reaper kings. Reapers are also a pain for boss fights because they’re so big it’s almost impossible to get 20 of them in a boss fight. Reapers are also pretty slow, so definitely not utility mounts. Shadowmanes are saddle-less with a great 124 natural armor. Shadowmanes are perhaps the most useful combat and utility tames in the game. You’re entitled to you opinion, even if it happens to be wrong.

@@tomsawyerpiper9412 okay, I just feel bad for you and your probably low level tames, while my star dolphin can destroy 5 voidwyrms just with grenades and plasma, and my reaper can kill a pack of mate boosted shadowmanes, and my rock drake can power glide right through a pack of ravagers, and stealthily assassinate anything I want, and my maewing swims faster than even the fastest of shadowmanes
