I honestly don't know why people can't interpret this, and are not able to put two and two together. No, josh did not destroy a perfectly good piano, if you take the time to watch the behind the scenes of the video the piano wasn't even playable. Also this video is trying to display the many colors and beauties in chopin's music, not simply to destroy a piano.

And professional pianists and music teachers everywhere cringe... but that’s how you know this professional wouldn’t actually do that to a piano that was in pristine condition. its not about that. its the way he interprets Chopins genius. If you understand music, you know this is abusive and completely stupid. its as if a footballer would burn down his stadium and juggle in front of it. Pure disgrace and disrespect. I am full of hate right now, and Chopin would be too, if i allow myself to say so.

@@lelNoBro I am pretty sure this is a fake piano. The audio comes from his album and the point of the video, is to show how many emotions/colors chopin pieces have. I think chopin would've found it funny seeing this. IT IS A FAKE PIANO.

Dammit people, look inside the fucking piano--it's been gutted. The keys stopped working halfway through, it was probably a junker beyond repair. The audio is direct from the album. You guys are the reason classical music has such a snobbish reputation nowadays--the interpretation stands strong on it's own, this was just a promotional video. He's playing the game to sell some music so he can go ahead and make more music. Being obstinate isn't helping anybody.

To all you pieces of crap that negatively commented on this video, what do you think you have to gain from shutting down an amazing pianist and performance that you could never pull off?? I'd like to see what YOU can do, if you supposedly know all. The "beautiful" piano was clearly a junker. Good pianos usually take a year to make, why on earth would they wreck a perfectly good piano?? This video was meant to show the colorful images of the music that Chopin wrote. Josh portrays that perfectly.

Are people really that foolish to NOT realize that this piano is simply a stage prop that has been gutted and re-painted??? I'm sure the video budget didn't cover a 200,000 dollar steinway and sons. It's an artistic statement, and a brilliant one. Also, quit imposing negativity towards others' interpretations of Chopin just because isn't Ashkenazy. I don't understand why all the negative comments about this classical music has to be serious non-sense. Tell me Liszt and Paganinni were being serious when they came up with La Campanella? What about Beethoven 3rd movement of the "Moonlight Sonata". The classical music of today used to be the pop music of then. You danced to it (Waltz) etc. If you are so against someone bringing new life to classics in a way to attract today's pop audience, then you don't like classical music. This isn't objectively "shit" as some commenters have called it. It's a very talented artist having a bit of fun with a piece of music he DOES take very seriously. Babayan put him through the wringer to perfect this work; he reflects on it in one of his ProTip videos. From what I've heard of Babayan's playing, one might assume you can't talk to him about his favorite flavor of ice cream without it sounding like a DNR decision. If someone takes a piece of music /per se/ to be sacred and beyond the reach of humor, then I wonder how they react to arrangements, transcriptions, or full-on transformations (i.e., Godowsky's studies re: Chopin). So, in short: Nothing is sacred; Dr. Wright is incredibly talented and has shown the ability to play the étude beautifully "in real life"; and the fact that he can stir so many to Khrushchevian shoe-banging tantrums confirms the stereotype of classical musicians/fans as elitist snobs. But it also shows that they [classical musicians/fans] actually do have emotions, and aren't made of plywood. By the way... Anyone else notice a possible nod to sound-color synaesthesia [chromaesthesia] in the video?
