This is the fifth poem I've uploaded to KZbin and it was essentially born from too much time dwelling in my own thoughts. If it seems a little scatterbrained, that's just a reflection of how I've been feeling lately. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy it, and can find at least a part of it to relate to.
LYRICS:
A silhouette swaying in the gray and decaying expanse of existence.
Trapped in a cycle of vengeful and spiteful, and ignorant persistence.
Watching my heroes all fall, one by one.
Am I alive at all? Hard to tell when you’re numb...
You can’t expect to keep track of time when you’re mourning
When one day bleeds to the next with no warning.
Am I a ghost? Well, not quite, but almost.
I’m still breathing, but is that supposed to be all life is?
I’m sick, and there’s no cure for what I have.
I don’t see the world like you do, through your eyes.
I don’t cry, and I can’t empathize. I don’t function like the rest of you…
I can’t decide which action I'm meant to choose.
Cause it feels like despite my attempts, I’m still less than you…
How do I act like a human’s intended?
How can I still see innocence and defend it,
when way down deep everyone is demented?
But I’m just venting...I can’t change a world that’s unrelenting.
Or abolish the virus that’s quickly spreading.
Consuming a nation, I see where this is heading.
A life in chains, if we’re lucky.
I’m sick of hearing kind words that are laced with a lie.
If you can’t even be honest with yourself, then why do you try?
But that’s an accusation I know you’ll deny,
so I sit back and I watch this die.
It was always your choice...not mine.
I’ve seen loved ones die and friends become shadows.
And I’ve watched myself be led to the gallows,
and I didn’t have the heart to fight.
But somehow I came out alive on the other side.
I know one day I’ll see the ones who died…and look them in the eye,
and say I’m sorry I never got to say goodbye.
And I’ve missed you more than you could imagine.
Life is a chore...and it always has been, since your deaths happened.
But for now, I clean the slate...eliminate the seeds of hate
and watch the doomed disintegrate.
Cause this was never my fight anyways.

It’s crazy how Moon shadow research and your poems are so alike. Almost like your one with the shadows. I love your work and this poem is amazing. You have a very down to earth look on the world which is one of the reasons I love your work. A lot of the things you write are very relatable

I'm glad you were able to relate to it, but I'm sorry to hear that you're currently going through depression. Just know that you're not alone! And as cliche as it is, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. I've been in that mindset for awhile now, so I feel your pain. And as for trust issues...unfortunately, that's something I've had to deal with for almost a decade. I really hope things can start improving for you soon though, and that you're able to kick depression's ass!

I like it. I get it, I think. People don't like to think outside of the box of society's norms because they crave acceptance, and you can't be accepted if you fit outside of society's norms, not if you're deemed a bad or non-agreeable person. Sometimes the norms should stay that way, but sometimes they should be challenged. I'm sure there were many elements put into this poem, this is just what came to mind; I could be way off haha.

Yayyy, another great video! I'm going to take this opportunity to say this: One time I had a dream that I was at a bookstore and i was with my mom but you were also there. There was this ring I wanted to buy (don't ask me why they were selling a ring at a bookstore lol) and my mom wouldn't let me get it, so I threw my book at the wall and ruined it. And I was like "oh shit I ruined it, i didn't even pay for it yet," and then you came up to me and scolded me in a spooky narrator voice. So yeah

While I don’t agree with some of your views, I can’t argue against the truth in them. Life is hard. It will always be hard. There will always be bad people, fear, hate, and chaos. Loss especially. But that’s normal. There are great things in this world that go along with the terrible. Good people. Beautiful landscapes. Two of many ingredients for so many adventures. But still. Humanity can’t exist solely on the high standards of purity nor the wickedness of cruelty. They’re forever intertwined. It’s what we do on this Earth, whether good or bad, that defines who we are as people. As long as we continue doing the best we can to live life to the fullest before the end, then that’s enough. I hope you’re doing well, David, and that goes for your loved ones as well. Much love to you.

I know this comment is a year old, apologies for the late reply. But I thank you for the kind words! As for advice, it's not the most amazing advice in the world, but I would just say to keep writing. We all have a first draft, and a second draft, etc. before we finalize something. Just be honest and true to who you are and the words will follow eventually.
