"Shady Grove"in two open tunings on a Gibson TG-50 tenor guitar.

Some improvised playing of "Shady Grove" in two different open tunings. First part is G-D-A-D low to high. Second part is G-D-G-D low to high. Played on a Gibson TG-50 strung with Dáddario flat tops.

Nice playing. And very nice Sound from that Gibson. Seems pretty beaten up, though. Do I get that right: those are flatwound strings you are using? By D‘Addario? I‘m still completely new to the tenor guitar and trying to figure out which strings and tuning I like best.

Thank-you, Yeah, really chewed up but no structural damage. Got it in that condition would be interesting to know it's history. Those aren't the flatwounds (I do have those on in my older video) These are the Daddario flat tops which are like a roundwound string that's been ground. It really reduces the finger squeaks. Revitalized my playing! . I just use a regular six-string set and leave out the low E and the G string. I use an octave mandolin tuning and then for this song I dropped the E string down one whole tone to D and the other part drop the A to a G and the E to a D. I haven't had much luck with actual tenor strings and the C-G-D-A low to High tuning.

It came that way with no pick guard. I never play it that hard myself. Got a good deal on it for obvious reasons.
