Lmao. Nuggets had same record, Jokic had better stats, Jamal missed 25 games. If this wasn’t his 3rd, it wouldn’t even be a discussion. We know why y’all pushing this agenda lets keep it a buck here 🤷‍♂️

This is by far the worst take on the pod till date, even RJ’s Chet ROTY argument had more merit. Channing is basically saying whoever’s got the best narrative should win the MVP, like what are we doing? Ex NBA players stooping to first take level arguments. Thank the lord the actual voters are objective. RJ calling them lazy and safe while only providing the same 3 stats for SGA’s case endlessly is laughable. “SGA getting only X amount of first place votes is crazy” - Y’all realise that all the voters cast their picks independently right? They’ve got no clue who the others are voting for, even if Jokic gets all 99 first place votes it wouldn’t be unfair to SGA simply because everyone agreed that Jokic had the better season. There is no collusion or meeting beforehand where they agree portion sizes for votes lmfao.

Jokic has 2x more rebounds. About 50% more assists. Plus Jokic sets screens and SGA rarely sets screens. SGA couldn't even get his team to the playoffs last year. This year OKC made the playoffs because of Chet Holmgren, who's the true MVP for OKC. Without Holmgren, OKC don't make the playoffs. SGA can win the MVP next year if he averages 10 rebounds per game along with 10 assists per game, along with 30 points per game.

I had it as Jokic>Luka>SGA. Jokic was the best player in the league & responsible for getting his team one of the best records in the league(Denver & OKC had the same record so that one seed argument is dead) while putting up one of the best stat lines in NBA history. Luka has a case for leading the league in scoring & being the most valuable to his team(the Macs without Luka are picking top 5)

What's Jokic narrative then? And why do they keep giving it to him? He's in a small market, he doesn't care about the media nor the MVP and still they give it to him! Jokic has no ties to the media to influence the votes. It's all based on numbers and merit.

Sga averaged 31 last year, similar assists, rbs, and shooting % they were 40-42… OKC didn’t get 17 wins because of him, they did it with additions, team defense, and 3 point shooting. Jokic produced more offense and rebounds for a team that was getting everyone’s best shot, on the spotlight, and ended up with the same record despite their second best player missing 25+ games… like what we doing?

I don’t think anyone hates Denver. They’re just acknowledging that Denver is loaded with talent and so it makes it easier for Jokic to put up big numbers because if you double him he’ll make you pay by kicking it out to one of the multiple high level players on his team. Jokic is amazing. No one is taking that from him. He’s just not the most valuable player to his team because even if he was out, Denver would still be a playoff team. You can’t say that about OKC.

MVP should be best player on the best team. it is more of a team award. once we broke the rules giving it to 6th seed russ in 2017, then 3rd seed jokic, then 6th seed jokic, now there is no criteria.

Not always. MVP goes to the person who was most valuble for their team that year. Criteria being if that team was a decent enough playoff team, and their best player had a dominant impactful season. Thats how I see it.

Then, Tatum should have won? And Booker like 2 or 3 years ago? The Bad Boys 2 was also leading the whole NBA 1 year. So Rasheed or Billups should have won? NO. It's not that simple.
@TheDeven1000
@TheDeven1000 4 ай бұрын
MVP should be the player that is the most valuable to their teams success. If you’ve already proven that you have enough help to be a championship team, then your value is likely less than that of say, a guy who takes a bunch of 23 year olds with no playoff experience and who’s primary help is two rookies and a second year player, all the way to the number 1 seed , as well as beating the reigning champs 3-1 in the season. That guy is THE most valuable player to his team. The award isn’t the best player in the league award. What is your value to your team?

I mean, you can't say "for me the MVP is this and that..." in terms of criteria. The MVP is the most VALUABLE player in the league. The one that without him, his team would be not terrible almost surely. I think Denver would be much worse without the Joker than OKC without SGA. Also, Both teams ended up with the same record, which supports the case for Jokic, in my opinion. I do agree that the voters are not consistent over the years, though.

They just look at box scores and some highlights. I really hope that SGA gets it next year not only did he the youngest number one seed in NBA history, but he did so without any other All-Stars, any other seasoned vets, mostly rookies to third year players.
