JJ has the potential to be a great coach, but the Lakers are not the right fit. He will end up being being a sacrificial lamb just like Steve Nash was with that fragmented Brooklyn Nets roster.

These old guys need to stop saying oh we can dominate today's game oh you're not the in today's game even the bench player needs to have skills bags, shooting, handles, switching, off the ball movement, defense( two way players) etc but in old era players who had 3 or 4 abilities of the above are consider Star, no offense but the game has evolved 30+ points ahead is not safe in today's game

I dont get sports fans,with everything has been going on i would siimplylook some where else, Lakers boss has been clear they are going to do everything to make LEBRON JAMES happy so... they willingly trade LAKERS fans for LEBRON´s fans so please get the joke already and stop cheering a team that little cares for you as a fan, JJ and Brony coming to lakers are just a tasteless joke

It's funny how much hate JJ gets because he....what, exactly? Successfully transitioned from being a player to a broadcaster then built a podcast with a million followers, got Lebron to do a podcast with him and now gets hired as a head coach? You really see how small and insecure people are when they shit on someone for being successful in doing something they love.

Dalton pick makes Reaves available in a trade. Lakers can package Reaves, Rui, Vando, Dlo if he opts in, plus two 1st rounders and get a star player. Any combination of those players and picks.
@mettaworldelbow7104Күн бұрын
Reaves’ skillset is not as close to Knecht’s as you might think, plus he might be the most untouchable guy on the roster. You’d need a hell of a star and a trade on favorable terms to the Lakers to move him because his contract is a bargain value wise. People have been trying to get AR for a while now and the FO is still super high on him

On my lakers they are very close the media makes it look like there terrible when they are not honestly if you swapped dlo for a 10point a game defense player like a Caruso which sucks to know we let him go for nothing the series is different and coach as well with him not taking timeouts,proper challenges in game two it's in the margins honestly and you put last year rui in this year playoffs stuff would have been different there a good player away from being the same as the rest of contenders and two players away from being a champion contender honestly

There is never going to be "consistency" in that Laker front office as long as Linda and Kurt Rambis is there. And this is coming from a lifelong Laker fan.
@Mark198dКүн бұрын
The problem is Jeanie who would hire them in the first place to be in positions of influence because she prefers to hire people she is already familiar with like Magic, the Rambises, Rob Pelinka (Kobe's agent) instead of just hiring the most qualified people. She runs the Lakers like a small family business. When she and Phil were together, they had a power struggle with Jerry West and they basically booted West from the Lakers. And then the Lakers released a pathetic tribute when West passed, who was responsible for so much of their franchise success as a player and GM. Jeanie needs to sell the team.
@Robert-pe6ziКүн бұрын
Lakers "consistency" is being in NBA finals in every decade since the 1940s and winning a title in every decade since the 1940s except 1960s and 1990s. Now stop pretending to be a Laker fan, asses your franchise and try not to get depressed.

I love RJ and like JJ, but the criticism is because coaching is not playing, and to go from a podcast and coaching 4th grade to coaching what many people would say is the most prestigious basketball organization in the world is insane.
@NawaltaКүн бұрын
Insane is way too strong a word. The dude has 15 years of NBA experience, let’s not dismiss that by saying he only coached kids and did a podcast. He’s not some dummy off the streets. Sure he’s new at managing a whole team and a staff, but the most important thing has to be the basketball aspect and he clearly has that covered.

List of NBA coaches hired with zero coaching experience. All ex-players: Steve Kerr Jason Kidd Marc Jackson Doc Rivers Lenny Wilkins Don Nelson Scott Skiles Isiah Thomas Vinny Del Negro Kevin McHale Kiki Vandeweghe Phil Jackson was hired as an assistant for one season then took over the Bulls to become the winningest coach ever. Playing the game and having a high IQ is experience. He’ll have growing pains like everyone else but he’ll have support as an ex-player.

@@kaistreetsvisuals Hey, I didn't necessary say the criticism is correct, the proof will be in the pudding (and the Lakers is actually a horrible situation)...But the idea of doing it is insane. Steve Kerr" Worked in the front office Jason Kidd: Also insane path Marc Jackson worked publicly as an analyst for 6-7 years Doc Rivers: Not sure Lenny Wilkins: Was a player coach for years Don Nelson: Was actually an assistant coach first Scott Skiles:Was actually an assistant coach first Isiah Thomas: Team executive and basketball analyst first Vinny Del Negro: Team executive first Kevin McHale: Team Executive and analyst first Kiki Vandeweghe: Team executive and analyst first. Sorry, nearly every person you mentioned worked for an NBA team in some capacity before becoming a coach. Ignoring the player coach angle, which was an old school thing Bill Russel also did, you have 3 coaches with a similar out of nowhere path (and Kidd has looked excellent). And Doc, who knows what he was doing for the few years in between. Mark Jackson was also far more seasoned as an analyst.

@@Nawalta If we go from 1980, looking at the list below, there have been 3 coaches (now 4 with JJ) with no NBA executive or coaching experience that went from playing to coaching...There have been around 370-400 NBA head coaches during that same stretch...Insane might be strong, definitely well outside the norm.
