Too young to understand weekend visitations

As an adolescent I remember us having sessions

That was was a blessing- I’m guessing the long and short of it

Wonder why is He not excited to spend some time with me?
For us to get together, usually I’d have to call you
At times you would make plans with me and they would fall through
Time passed- no longer a kid, but in my teens

Carrying the weight of your absence on my shoulders
Wishing you weren’t distant, so much bitterness then
My whole life switched when I became a Christian
So many memories locked away
For now, all I gotta say is Happy Father’s Day

After I was saved through the gospel and made new

I’m married now and got three children of my own

I grew up without my father. I was saved @ 23 years old and my eyes were opened to see the Best Father ever in our Lord. 3 years ago God gave me my baby girl and everyday I face statistics in the eyes with a smile knowing that by Grace I will never abandon her. I’m crying heavily as I type this because I pray that all fathers shine the light of Christ into the hearts of their beautiful children. We love You, God! Thank you, Shai!!!!!🙌🏽

This is awesome. I don't know who my biological father is. I was adopted when I was 8 months old. My father treated me in every way like his own. Never once making me feel the need or wanting to find out who my biological dad is. This showed me the power of adoption and the reason for adoption. As Christians we have been adopted by Christ and treated as if we were his very own. This was my dad's motivation for adoption, to display what Christ has done for him. What a beautiful thing for a father to do. Thanks, Shai!

The way he tells a story through his lyrics with such a smooth flow is awesome my goodness. A verse that came to mind is Ephesians 4:32. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Forgiving someone who's done harm to you is extremely difficult. Although, through Christ, we could forgive others as God has forgiven us.

Shai, I met you like 8-9 years ago in Richmond, KY. You talked to me after a concert that like me and like 4 other goofy white people were into (thank you for coming AND the convo). I was newly married, just like you, had my first child on the way. Since that day, your music has helped shaped my view of the Father and his Gospel. As you have matured, you have helped me mature by His grace. Now, I've got four kids, two of them with autism. I was having a bad day today cause we had to travel 4 hours, the kids took my wife and I past the end of our rope in the van, to the point where I gave up parenting/training them and just tried to get us home in one piece. This song reminded me that Father's Day isn't about me; its about the blessing that God gives me in my kids, that God gave them to me to show me I am so inadequate in and of myself. Thanks for reminding me today, Fathers Day 2020, that Christ is supreme, the only one worthy of veneration, and that the answer is Him crucified.

My dad came to Christ on his death bed because so many people never gave up on him, he saw that love and devotion that my church and I had for him, even though he had messed up so much of his life.
