I came to understand the doctrine of election by your song, Shai Linne.

Shai, thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I joined the CHH movement in late 2004 and your album "Solus Christus Project" was the first one I bought in 2005 right after Braille's. It truly was a glorious decade and much good fruit came from it. I'm not the hip-hop fan I once was, but still just as in love with Jesus.

Just in the last few years I got introduced to this theological hip-hop and it has definitely changed the way that I write my lyrics to the Lord

Bro thank you so much for this! I do think Christian Hip Hop is coming back to the Gospel. It's not lyrical theology, but there are a lot of artists who are using their music to turn people to Christ.

It’s Shai. The speaker.

Shai Linne, the speaker and his friends (Stephen the Levite, Timothy Brindle, Json, etc...) were very active artists/ministers like he said from around 2002-2012. They were part of Lamp Mode Recordings. I believe it still maintains a website, though their music has slowed down considerably. They came up under Cross Movement Records. Reach Records from that period has evolved for better or worse, but still is going strong. They include artists like Lecrae, Trip Lee, Hulvey, Whatuprg, etc..). There are still theologically centered artist like Flame producing CHH. Hazakim, Bizzle and Dee1 are among many others definitely worth checking out.

Martin Luther wrote hymns to secular German tunes to proclaim the truth of scripture - so why not use the rap music form?

Secular Hip hop music and rap is the worse thing to happen to the Black community as far as shaping culture. The artist and the content that is being pushed out by the record companies is soul taking. There is a bad spirit behind the scenes of the music. Affecting the minds of the youth. Hip hop becomes the Father figure and role model
