I didn't write it...my understanding is that the first two verses are traditional Native American--specific tribe unknown to me--and the last verse was written by a couple of women who were singing it in circles in the 80's and early 90's. It was my pleasure and privilege to bring my own interpretation to that simple chant.

This is a lovely piece of music. it totally encapsulates my pantheistic view of spirit. Beautiful!I love Shainas music. My sister and I listened to Songs for the Inner Child whilst we kept vigil next to our father in his final few hours. I know that it helped both of us as I am sure it did with Dad. Every time I listen it now I have warm memories about the time we had with him.

Shaina, this is exquisite. The images are beautiful. Thanks for letting me know. I love seeing my name in print. Have to add that the second verse was written by Pat Dell, then of Salt Lake City. We each wrote our verses walking arm in arm at an Earthsteward Gathering with In Context Magazine, now Yes Magazine, in 1986, planting a Peace Pole at Fort Warden State Park, Washington. Pat taught me the first verse on the way to the planting, and we made up the new verses on the spot. Wish I could find her to shout out a hello and thank you.
