I was watching another channel last night about a retired Green Beret. He was talking about the downside of a career in special forces and proceeded to describe a very long list of broken bones, detached muscles, torn cartilages, etc. Then he talked about the high divorce rate and never seeing family. You gotta really want it to be one these guys. It's not something that I ever could have done but glad that we have brave men who step up to do this.

I’ve deployed twice in support of ODA’s in both Afghanistan and Syria and it blows my mind how similar all their kits are. I hung out with the D’s a bunch my first deployment and learned as much as I could from them and my 2nd tour they essentially were running their kit very similarly to me. Just really goes to show how good their training is because they carry the minimum for such a wide mission set from partner force training to DA in any environment. Truly professionals.

Unless they had that slide milled special (not unlikely) or run adapter plates (why would you), not hard to figure out. I'm not saying it is the Romeo 2 from Sig, but working in a gun store and handling it (also owning the optic), that would be my choice for a 320. Direct mount to a 320, no special tools (ie flat head) to change battery, comon 2032 coin battery, and run open or enclosed.

@@DustinS. Leopuld specifically made the DPP for the m17/m18. I also was able to have an m17 issued to me with the delta point pro on it. They even made it so specific to that pistol that when you take the plate off and put on the DPP. You lose the rear sight so as co witness the DPP has a slot where you can put one in.

I remember maybe 8 or 9 years ago when my cousin got back from working in Africa as a GB just before he went with the 3 letter guys. He had his "dumbed down" kit he had to carry with him in case he got a call, basically just a Spiritus with enough stuff to fall out the back of a truck and still be effective, his Ops Core and his "non service" rifle . It would be a pretty simple and standard set up nowadays, but back then it was the most high speed shit I'd ever seen. He told me that it was the gear he was cleared to carry during off hours because his duty gear had sensitive equipment that would usually be waiting for him on whatever plane they would send if he had to go to work. Most of the kit he had wouldn't be seen by the civilian market for quite a while, now every guntuber and IG cool guy has it. I can't imagine the type of shit he's got now..

If you look up pictures of Rangers back in 2006/2010 they “advanced gear” they had, is what all infantry now has. It is absolutely insane, my uncle who served in the USMC said “All the guy gear that regular infantry has now no matter what branch, they are 20 years behind. So imagine what SF/SOF guys got now.”
@TucsonHat
@TucsonHat Жыл бұрын
@@tazbandz6688 I'd kill to see pics of my cousin's current gear, now that he's no longer US military he's allowed to basically choose whatever he wants without having to go through the military acquisition process while still having access to stuff only SOCOM can get their hands on. Even back in the day he wasn't allowed to show me what plates he was using in his carrier, just that they were "equivalent to level IV+".. I've got IV plates and I can tell you they're considerably heavier than his whole carrier at the time

@@TucsonHat but any SOF/SF element’s gear is 100% insanely advanced, maybe some stuff are “out of date” for them but perfectly in date for all other infantry. Tier 1 units are the ones getting the extra advanced shit. But no doubt they got fun toys; I’m serious though look up pictures from 2000’s-2010’s of SOF/SF. Primarily Rangers, SEALs hell even DEVGRU. All they got is what Marines, Army, have now. It’s literally the most insane shit.

The red dot on the pistol is most likely a new model from Sig that’s not available through commercial dealers yet. I work for a Sig Defense Dealer and got a preview of it when I was at Sig factory in November. It’s proprietary to the M17/M18, currently fielded by some tier one units, other units are seeing it and asking how they can get Glock’s modified to accept it.

Interesting. I always liked to use the button on the laser but didnt use it enough. Ultimately I ran it closer to the red dot to even out the weight. I guess if you are spending this much time over duel tube NODs it makes sense to move your BUIS back behind the laser. Then if it has a visible option just switch to the laser instead of the last ditch BUIS. I am also a big fan of keeping the pistol side free to be able to do a draw. Running things slick is good too I just question the phone storage situation. Hopefully this is not during a active mission.

11B in the house. Alot of the standard issue/ deployment issue pouches are crap. Some still have metal snap buttons on them LMAO. in my unit the command team was ok with us buying 3rd party pouches and pouches only when it came to the chest rig ( shows you how archaic the conventional military is ). I deployed to Iraq with the high speed taco mag pouches which turned out to be trash when getting in and out of Maxxpro's and MATV's, fucking mags falling out everywhere. I ended up selling them to a cherry in my platoon for half of what i paid cause he liked the way the looked. I reverted back to the issued two mag holsters with velcro flap( they we're not sexy but they did the job very well). Because of my units constant mission tasking by SOF elements to westpoint pog convoy security my kit was CONSTANTLY changing. Some days i would have 3 2x mag pouches a gp pouch for night vision and another gp pouch for random shit like multi tool, rip it's and chem lights. The next day i would have a slick plate carrier, tactical tailor belt for 40mm's and be assigned to the AT4, Carl G, 240, 320, or 50 ( think of it like a guy camping the loadout drop in call of duty warzone but instead the load drop is a burning hot gun truck sitting like a duck while IDF is pounding the area around it ( serious pucker factor). From my time in the infantry in training in garrison to deploying to the battle of mosul, i can say the best kit is two parts- slick plate carrier and chest rig that has everything you will need on it with extra room for other shit you will pick up along the way. The reason two parts is useful is because sometimes you won't need all that equipment, just a few mags and a weapon, so it's best to not let it weigh you down for no reason. As the saying goes in the Infantry; "ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain.

What’s the over under on why you carry only 4 mags +1 in the gun? Seems pretty light, but I figure you have CAS and crew served weapons on the vehicles yeah?

How are the M17s holding up. I haven't seen or heard much feed back since they have been deployed?

The new green beret camouflage training they have is quite incredible. I know he only has it painted on his face right now, but once it's all over him you wouldn't be able to tell who's there at all!

Great video. What Safariland holster are you using with the Legion? I can’t find one that fits the Legion. Thank you.

At the end he mentioned having magnesium added in the grip for weight, but I’m sure he meant tungsten. Magnesium is super light for its size, whereas tungsten is super heavy.

I’m a civilian who trains frequently. My kit is very similar to this except I’m running the PVS 14 and a Team Wendy helmet and no radio/coms, and my go to rifle is my Daniel Defense 14.5” with a Aimpoint T2 with Geissele SD-E trigger and charging handle. My side arm is an HK USP 45 or my G17 gen 5
