I feel like when he was literally about to go conduct a raids removing those machetes weaponry away from those interhamwei cells and then as soon as he was waiting on approval from the UN. He gets denied to do that. Which kind of makes me wonder if the UN allowed this genocide to happen as part of some sick evil experiment.

Thanks to General Romeo Dallaire, Paul Kagame, and the United Nations for saving Rwanda and the lives from the genocide that happened there last 1994. I also watched this movie for my cross-college general education elective class, Perspectives on World Issues.

There is a man who did everything he could in one of the worst genocides in the history of man kind. The U.N, Left him high and dry. Allowed the Belgians to be murdered, Sent him no help. Despite all this. He managed to save lives.

Worked for the UN (at the HQ) in peacekeeping. I had a lot of time to watch senior staff at Assistant and Under Secretary General level. With a couple of exceptions, they were (are - I didn't leave that long ago) are people of no moral worth.

Definitely agree. In order to properly keep the peace, you need to be able to make it in areas where it starts breaking down. When you're trying to maintain your home, you don't leave a hole in your roof, you don't just wait till the roof collapses and move away, you take necessary action to fix it. If you're curious, UN Peacekeeping policy has since changed. If this similar thing were to happen today, the Peacekeepers would've been allowed to intervene.

I have a theory that if what was going on in Yugoslavia at the same time as Rwanda, UNAMIR would have had more attention and resources. Probably wouldn’t have stopped the Civil War in the end but Gen Dallaire would have had more help

Not saying that the UK is right to send illegal migrants there, 'cause I think they should have the opportunity to stay where they want to stay! But just as a matter of information, the genocide was over 30 years ago and today Rwanda is by far one of the best countries in Africa! Went there in 2022 as a tourist and it's a very clean, beautiful and safe country! If you can, definately recommend you and others to go there!

The film starts with a 22 second pre-credit sequence which no viewer can relate to and is completely pointless. The frequent brief flashbacks also serve no purpose and are just annoying. The film is basically a modern-day horror wherein a UN peace-keeping force is shown to be almost totally ineffective in keeping peace. It is a very effective film but not worth watching when it includes 1001 ad breaks which just show complete disregard for the horrors the people suffered.
