In this video, I present Shakespeare's Hamlet, retold by Charles & Mary Lamb - an audiobook narration.
I did not know that these re-tellings existed. Moreso that they were written 200 years ago! If you have ever wanted to say you understand Shakespeare's works but don't know how to read them, these re-tellings are for you!
My only complaint... they have taken a page from Arnold Rimmer's punctuation guide....
I had to start with Hamlet, as it is not only the most popular but its also just a fascinating story. But I have every intention of doing most, if not all of these over time.

I haven't read Hamlet since studying it in school many years ago. I found it confusing with so many characters to remember. Hearing it in modern English like this was very interesting. In Japan, where I live, many traditional stories end tragically like this one. It's interesting that even in Shakespeare's day people liked these "no happily ever after" tales.

I did not know these versions existed. Plenty of people struggle with Shakespeare, I love how accessible this is. I might do The Tempest next when I come back to these tales, as that is my favourite Shakespeare. Thanks for listening!.
