Thanks so much for this, especially for identifying the biblical imagery. It's actually rarely drawn out in contemporary British commentary at the high school level. We are the poorer for it!

Considering how so many classic texts were written for audiences who understood biblical references, it definitely seems a shame not to acknowledge and understand them ourselves!
