Why is she not given the same love regarding her dress which for me tick the box for the theme, "The Garden of Time." It was inspired by J.G Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. Shakira wore a captivating cape with Roses on either side of the sleeves, a nod to Philip Treacy's 2000 rose hat. She looked absolutely Stunning in the dress designed by Wes Gorden for Carolina Herrera. He stated in a Vogue article on May 7th, that he loved working with Shakira because she placed such attention to detail and was very much involved in the process. The exhibit was set to Highlight Ann Lowe, which was Long Overdue as she was the first Pioneering African American designer from Tampa Florida who learned her craft from her mother and grandmother and began making dresses at age 12. If you haven't read about her please do. She is an Amazing Trailblazer and phenomenal seamstress! She long made dresses for many notable families such as, The Roosevelts and Rockefellers to name a few of her time. Her intricately beautiful dresses, have landed one of them at The Smithsonian National Museum of American History. The most notable was Jacqueline Bouvier's absolutely exquisite wedding dress to marry John F. Kennedy in 1953. Everyone praised the breathtaking dress but was missing from the next day's papers was the name of the dress maker, noting only from the New York Times that it was a "colored designer." Sorry, if this is long -winded. All this to say, that Shakira looked Slayed at first ever Met Gala! Just Love Her!
